Background: The women who were called in for further examinations after a breast screening had all their examinations and test during one day. This organization has been conducted since 1993 in this clinic, but has not previously been evaluated. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the patients? experiences of the organization, in a radiologic breastcancer clinic, where all the examinations and the test-results were given at the same day. Method: An empirical quantitative study was performed.

ABSTRACTIntroduction: An increasing number of patients in Sweden receive epidural anaesthesia (EDA) in connection to surgery. Caring for patients with acute pain is a responsibility that is strongly established within the profession of the nurse anaesthetist. If the care provided by the nurse anaesthetist for patients who receive epidural anaesthesia is to evolve then further insight and knowledge is required regarding the individual´s experience.Aim: To describe patients' experiences in receiving epidural anaesthesia based on an earlier perioperative start-up of the EDA.Method: Based on a qualitative approach, the aim is to conduct semi-structured interviews with patients who receive EDA in connection to abdominal or gynaecological surgery. Research subjects' statements in the context of the interviews will be transcribed and then analysed using qualitative content analysis. In order to evaluate the chosen method regarding data collection and analysis model an exploratory pilot study was conducted.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of arterial insufficiency in patients undergoing CABG surgery and whether arterial insufficiency is a risk factor for postoperative wound infections in the harvesting leg. Patients who had CABG surgery were enrolled consecutively. A total of 144 patients participated in the study. During their hospital stay demographic data was recorded, as well as pre-, intra-, and postoperative tests and risk factors. The patients answered a questionnaire regarding postoperative wound infections 30 days after surgery patients answered a questionnaire regarding infections.

SammanfattningBakgrund: I Sverige diagnostiseras årligen cirka 250 barn med någon form av cancer och är den vanligaste dödsorsaken för barn mellan 1-15 år. Då hela familjen berörs när ett barn får cancer, är det viktigt att arbeta familjefokuserat. Det innebär att skapa en icke-hierarkisk relation till familjen och göra dem delaktiga samt arbeta utifrån ett salutogent förhållningssätt.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva familjens upplevelser av att leva med ett cancersjukt barn.Metod: En litteraturstudie med deskriptiv design genomfördes med inspiration av innehållsanalys. Studien baseras på vetenskapliga artiklar som hämtats från tre olika databaser.Resultat: I resultatet framkommer åtta teman: Förändrad tillvaro, maktlöshet, stöd och avsaknad av stöd, vardagen blev en utmaning, skuld och otillräcklighet, sorg, hopp, god och bristande kommunikation.Slutsats: När barnet i familjen insjuknade i cancer förändrades tillvaron radikalt. Det blev en stor omställning, både känslomässigt och socialt.

Non-attendance and cancellations within dental care is a problem resulting in both financial and time consuming losses. The purpose of this questionnaire was to investigate different factors influencing non-attendance and cancellations. Six public and private dental clinics located in Skåne participated. Information about the clinics and patient-related factors were collected. Result: Totally 182 patients cancelling or not attending their appointment were registered.

Therapeutic contact and healing touch are methods nurses? uses to give positive feeling of serenity, warmth and wellbeing for the patients. Touching can be a method for communication and happiness when word is not enough.

Falls and fallinjuries are very common in peoples own homes in various institutions. Hospital inpatients often fall during daytime in connection with their visit to the toilet. Visual impairment such as cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy can cause falls. The purpose of this study was to examine patient´s records where falls and fallinjuries were documented at an emergency clinic and to examine if they were registered to visual impairment. The records from 68 hospital inpatients from the age of 65 years and older who did fall during the year of 2004, were examined.

Bakgrund: En av tre drabbas någon gång under livet av cancer. Cytostatikabehandlingenär en av de vanligaste behandlingsformerna, dessvärre medför den alltidbiverkningar. Håravfall beskrivs som en av de värsta biverkningarna undercytostatikabehandling. Syfte: Att belysa forskning kring cytostatikarelaterat håravfallhos kvinnor med cancer. Metod: Genom systematisk sökning via databaser valdes 7kvalitativa och 3 kvantitativa studier ut som grund för en litteraturstudie.

Bakgrund: Enligt Socialstyrelsen (2009) insjuknar cirka 300 barn i cancer varje år i Sverige, och 20 procent av alla dödsfall hos barn orsakas av cancer. Barn som blir sjuka i cancer kan komma att kräva palliativa omvårdnadsåtgärder, då kurativ behandling inte kan ges. Målet med den pediatriska palliativa vården är att uppnå mesta möjliga livskvalitet hos barn såväl som hos deras föräldrar. Syftet var att belysa psykosociala behov hos barn med cancer och hos deras föräldrar under den palliativa fasen på sjukhuset. Metod: En kvalitativ litteraturstudie gjordes utifrån åtta vetenskapliga artiklar som granskades med hjälp av två bedömningsprotokoll och analyserades enligt ett kvalitativt förfarande.

This report is about the development of a prototype of a mobile application and a web application that will help diabetes patients in their own treatment and ease diabetes nurses work with their diabetes patients. The mobile application is a digital version of a diabetes diary used by the Örebro County Council primary care to ease in diabetes treatments. The report also covers tests with users which were conducted on potential users to get some sort of feedback from groups other than customer and colleagues. Tests with users showed that there was an interest in a mobile application and it was a highly appreciated project. The web application ease diabetes nurses in their work with their diabetes patients in the way that the web application can display graphs of the patient's blood glucose level. .

I Sverige insjuknar årligen ungefär 300 barn och ungdomar i någon cancersjukdom. Cancer hos barn ansågs tidigare som någonting obotligt. De senaste årtiondenas medicinska framsteg har dock radikalt förändrat perspektivet på barncancer. I dag vet vi att två av tre barn blir botade. Förutom medicinskt - tekniskt kunnande är det också nödvändigt med ett riktigt omhändertagande och en god omvårdnad av patienten och familjen.

Beröring är ett universellt sätt att kommunicera på och ettnaturligt och medfött beteende. Beröring inom omvårdnadinnehåller fysiska, emotionella, sociala och spirituelladimensioner, vilket kan ses som ett holistiskt synsätt. Syftetmed studien var att belysa patienters upplevelser av beröringinom canceromvårdnad och palliativ omvårdnad. Studiengenomfördes som en litteraturstudie där 11 artiklaranalyserades. Resultatet visade att beröring huvudsakligenledde till ökat välbefinnande och förbättrad livskvalitet.Patienter upplevde att de kände sig bekräftade som en helmänniska och inte enbart som en sjuk kroppsdel.

Aim: To investigate the quality of life and the social life situation, with special focus on the consequenses of fear of hypoglycemia (FoH), in Islet transplanted patients.Method: 11 patients were included, four women and seven men, who have been Islet tranplanted at Uppsala University Hospital during the years 2001-2009. Two questionaires, Short Form 36 (SF-36) and the Swedish version Hypoglycemia Fear Survey (Swe-HFS) were used to investigate the quality of life, in relation to fear of hypoglycemia. Also, telephone interviews were conducted to investigate the patients social life situation in relation to FoH, after Islet transplantation and were analysed using content analysis method.Results: The mean value for quality of life was lower than that in the normal population. Three out of ten patients experienced FoH. Three predominant themes were revealed, one theme associated with pre- transplant, was ?Struggle for control of Social Life Situation? and two themes associated with post-transplant, were ?Regain power and controll of  Social Life Situation? and ?At Peace with the balance between the Present and the Future?.Conclusion: The patients experienced improved control over social life situation and quality of life in relation to FoH may been improved following islet tranplantation..

Assessment of hearing aids can be done by inventories. The result of the inventories can show the patients need and how the hearing aids works in the patients daily life. The result of the inventories can be influenced by the difference in languages and the cultures. The inventory IOI-HA should not be sensitive to those factors.The aim of this study was to compare and analyse material, method and to report and analyse the result from a pilot study made at Sahlgrenska University.The result showed that IOI-HA is a natural inventory which is able to be used internationally. The four studies in England, USA, the Netherlands, and Germany showed that the psychometric properties are similar across languages and cultures.

I vården möter sjuksköterskorpalliativa patientermed cancer i stor utsträckning. Cancer är en utav världens vanligaste sjukdomar vilkenmedför stort lidande och dödlighet. Syftet med studien var att beskrivahur palliativ omvårdnad kan främja välbefinnandethospatienter med cancer.Metoden som användes var en litteraturstudie där 11 artiklar valdes ut och granskades. I resultatet framkom fem teman; Vikten av kunskap inom palliativ omvårdnad, Omvårdnadsåtgärder för ökat fysiskt välbefinnande, Omvårdnadsåtgärder för ökat psykiskt välbefinnande, Vårdrelationen mellan patient och sjuksköterska samtVikten av sociala relationer för ökat välbefinnande.I studien av dessa teman framkom viktiga faktorer som syftar till att främja patientens fysiska, psykiska, existentiella, spirituella och sociala välbefinnande. Dessa faktorer är: symtomlindring, goda relationer mellan sjuksköterskor-patienter, sjuksköterskor-närstående samt patienter-närstående, hantering av existentiella och spirituella problem, sjuksköterskors kunskap om cancer och palliativ omvårdnad, sjuksköterskorsstöd till patienteroch närstående samt att sjuksköterskor har ett holistiskt förhållningssätt..
