Hyperthyroidism has become the most commonly diagnosed endocrine disorder in cats. The recommended treatment of choice in the literature is administration of radioactive iodine. This treatment has been available at a few veterinary clinics in Sweden since 1999. Forty-six cats treated with a standard dose (80 MBq) of radioactive iodine (131I) at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in the period 2000-2004 were followed for a median of 13 months (range 3-42 months) by means of a retrospective cohort study design. Tables predicting time of survival after treatment were made. At final follow-up thirty-nine cats (85%) were euthyroid, six cats (13%) remained hyperthyroid and one cat (2%) was hypothyroid.

Genom examensarbetets intervjuer framkom att det finns en paradox kring bevarandet av kulturell särart och samtidig integration, där skolans personal ställer sig frågande till hur man ska möta en främmande tradition. Trots preciseringen av alla varianter av romani chib som etniska minoritetsspråk visar sig flera informanter ha en oklar bild av skillnaderna mellan de olika språken, vilket leder till att den garanti som finns för att romska elever ska få undervisning på rätt variant inte uppfylls..

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how three banks country funds are performing relative to each other in regard to risk and return. And to find out if there is any underlying factor that may have affected the stock exchange in the different countries.Methodology: The study is based on secondary data and will apply the quantitative method, based on a deductive approach. The sample consists of three major Swedish banks and from them we have selected three country funds. The calculation formulas that have been applied are: Sharpe ratio, standard deviation and Arithmetic Average.Conclusion: The Writers concluded that Sweden funds had the highest yield to lowest risk in both periods in all three major banks. We have also concluded that the underlying factors affecting a country fund.

The Swedish reindeer husbandry has had economic difficulties for some years. Due to this, and the fact that the reindeer husbandry plays an important role in Sámi culture, the Swedish state has chosen to support the industry. If these grants where to be withdrawn, the reindeer husbandry as well as the Sámi culture would decrease, which would cause welfare losses for the people living in Sweden. The aim of this study was to elicit what the Swedes are willing to pay to maintain the amount of reindeer husbandry and Sámi culture. By using Contingent Valuation and a survey the willingness to pay was estimated.

This diploma work has been conducted for the consulting company Ramböll inUppsala, Sweden with the purpose to perform a study with the calculation programFEM Design 9.0 made by Strusoft. The aim has been to find out if it is possible to gainadvantage by utilizing more advanced 3D software for design calculations, instead ofthe traditional methods currently used in construction works.The method of approach has been to model an existing warehouse building with theprogram FEM Design, and then compare the results with those attained with FrameAnalysis and hand calculations. These results are then analyzed. An evaluation is maderegarding to what benefits can be achieved using a more advanced 3D-model.The results of the study show that the differences between the methods are not ofany significance with regard to the design of the steel frame. However in morecomplex materials such as reinforced concrete, the differences become more notable.The conclusions drawn by the authors of this study into FEM Design are that theeducation requirements of the program are higher than for simpler programs, whosepurpose are solving predetermined problems.

In three areas in the province of Småland studies has been done to investigate how big damage the moose may do to P. abies. An inquiry examination and two different types of surveys were done to find out how big area, which volume and which financial consequences the moose debarking has had on the forest. When the volume was calculated the rot spreading was included. The area that was damaged was stipulated with the answers from the inquiry examination. 59 % of the asked forest owners answered the inquiry.

Denna del av revisionen är dock unik för Sverige och Finland och existerar ej någon annanstans i världen. Revisionen syftar till att revisorn skall granska styrelsens och verkställande direktörens förvaltning av bolaget för att undersöka om det föreligger någon ersättnings-skyldighet gentemot aktieägarna. Revisionen utmynnar sedan i ett uttalande från revisorn i fråga om ledningen bör beviljas ansvarsfrihet eller inte. Huvudfrågan i uppsatsen är hur revisorerna ser på förslaget om att avskaffa förvaltningsrevisionen? Syfte: Syftet med studien är att klarlägga vad en förvaltningsrevision innebär praktiskt samt vad ett slopande av förvaltningsrevision skulle innebära utifrån ett revisorsperspektiv.

The Profession of Real Estate Agents has by tradition been a male profession. However during later years the profession has changed. It is now many young women that are pursuing a career as a Real Estate Agent.In the light of this background we have researched how Real Estate Agents employed by Fastighetsbyrån and Svensk Fastighetsförmedling perceive their profession from an equality perspective.The investigation has been limited to include the counties of Värmland and Närke and have been conducted by interviewing Real Estate Agents of different age and sex and the managers of the firms.The study show that the Real Estate Agents perceive their profession in a positive way and that the work is divided equal. However it emerged that there were a division regarding different real estate types in certain agencies. The Real Estate Agents believe that the gender of the manager is of no importance.

Heat is distributed to the district heating customers through pipes with water as a heat carrier. The district heating system is complex. To decide what is leakages from the district heating net versus what is the water consumption of the plant, is difficult. Therefore, the purpose of this master thesis is to establish a model where the district heating net?s leakages but also the water consumption of the plant can be followed daily. The project is performed at Vattenfall´s district heating power plant in Uppsala. Information is gathered through discussions, drawings of the plant and guided tours of the plant.

Uppsatsen granskar det spänningsförhållande som existerar mellan Hårdrockens uttryck och den oinvigda allmänhetens moralpanik. Genom självpresentation och smakdistinktioner undersöker den också hur Hårdrocken idag har positionerat sig som en etablerad kultur med ursprung och tradition. På så sätt behandlar uppsatsen vad och vem som definierar Hårdrockens kulturella värde och position. Undersökningen görs genom en textanalys av den svenska hårdrockstidningen Close-Up Magazine. The aim of this study about wind power planning in forest was to examine the factors and restrictions, which represent technical limitations, biodiversity, tourism and amount of energy for wind farms in Kronoberg County. Suitable areas for wind power were identified from the collected information about planning principles and potential conflicts. From the suitable areas the potential energy gain is calculated. Methods used were mainly a literature review, interviews with experts and practitioners, GIS analysis and a rough calculation of the energy gain. The section of information and facts describes in general wind power planning and possible conflicts.

Bakgrund: Det finns skilda uppfattningar om var skolan skall ha skolavlutning inför sommarlovet. Kyrkan som plats för skolavslutning skapar debatt när anhängare och motståndare vill definiera vad skolavslutning i kyrkan är, bör vara och/eller kan innebära. Olika uppfattningar och tolkningar av skolans styrdokument har mynnat ut i att skolavslutning i kyrkan har diskuterats flitigt i media.  Bakgrunden, eller det så kallade forskningsproblemet uppstår just i oenigheten över skolavslutning i kyrkan. Åsiktsströmningar om skolavslutning i kyrkan öppnar upp för att undersöka vilka diskurser som finns i media. Syfte: Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka hur skolavslutning i kyrkan konstrueras och vilka diskurser som framträder i artiklar i dagstidningar. Metod: Studien innefattar analys av texter i utvald nyhetsmedia. Kritisk diskursanalys som specifik teori med ansats av socialkonstruktion. Resultat: Resultatet visar att det finns meningsskillnader i frågan där ställningstagandet producerar föreställningar och kategoriseringar av motståndarna.

In this qualitative study of students? methods of calculating subtractions, I have used interviews, subtraction exercises and analysis of teaching material. The purpose of my study was to explore which methods students in grade three uses when calculating subtractions. I also wanted to highlight which strategies the students use and their comprehension of the concept of subtraction. In the study, I also highlight the different pedagogical ideas on which the teaching material is based on and the students? choice of methods.  The study shows that the students choose to use the methods?deduct? and ?kind of number? independently.

Sammanfattning:Uppsatsen består av två kvantitativa beräkningar gjorda i sex grammatikböcker ur kurslitteraturen vid Institutionen för nordiska språk, LU. Den första beräkningen utgörs av antalet subjekt i exempelmeningarna med manlig respektive kvinnlig referent. Den andra beräkningen utgörs av de semantiska roller som dessa subjekt innehar i exempelmeningarna. Syftet är att utröna om män representeras oftare än kvinnor i exempelmeningarna, om de är mer aktiva och om män generaliseras till "människor". Min hypotes var att finna att män representeras oftare än kvinnor, men att det förändras över tid, något som också infriades till viss del.Den kvantitativa beräkningen har sedan analyserats kvalitativt med hjälp av en feministisk språkteori för att utröna bakomliggande orsaker till skillnader mellan representationen av män respektive kvinnor.
