When a disaster occurs the main focus is on the loss of human lives. Here the environmental effects have been in the centre of attention. This work has had two main purposes. The first one was to formulate attributes, variables that together present a complete picture of the consequences that an event has had on the environment. The other main purpose was to investigate how people value the impact that a disaster can have on the environment.

The gas turbines in the Swedish secondary reserve are reaching the end of their technical lifetime, hence alternative solutions need to be considered. One of the solutions thought to have the greatest potential is the use of so called consumptionreduction. By entering contracts with large consumers, agreements are made to reduce consumption in the event of major disturbances in the power system and thus being used as a secondary reserve. This thesis investigates the feasibility of consumption reduction as part of the secondary reserve. This has been achieved by developing a requirement specification for the disturbance reserve and by studying the technical and economic potential for consumption reduction among a range of consumers.The technical potential for consumption reduction that fulfils the requirements for participating in the secondary reserve are on average 750 MW in SE 3 and 98 MW in SE 4.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the properties of the municipalities in Sweden that influence the choice of being a certified Fairtrade city. The independent variables which are used in the statistical analysis are municipal governance, local tax rate, whether there is an university and/or university college in the municipality, average income and higher education in the municipality. The variables are examined by logistic regression. Since there are no statistical data on ethical procurement, this exogenous variable isn?t included in the regression.

Transformation of inorganic mercury (Hg) to methyl mercury (MeHg) is a biotic process that is proposed to be conducted primarily by sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB). The formation of MeHg is of great interest because it is the mercury species that biomagnifies to the greatest extent in the aquatic food webs; about 90 % of all Hg in fish is MeHg. Our understanding of factors involved in the production of MeHg is very important for making a reliable risk assessment. The purposes of this study were to investigate the different factors that control the solubility of Hg and the production of MeHg in a contaminated lake sediment. The lake Ala-Lombolo, Kiruna municipality, is well-known to be contaminated by mercury from different sources. Sediment cores were sampled at three different locations (N, SW and SE) in the lake and divided in three different layers; 0-5, 5-10 and 10-15 cm.

The purpose with this study is to investigate funds that are environmentally friendly. Environment issues has become a large subject that affects all aspects in today?s society.  It is a global issue which has affected the awareness of environmentally friendly products and its benefits for the environment.How has this awareness affected the financial market?  In this study the authors have looked at six environmentally sound funds and six energy funds to answer the question if it´s better to have your money in traditional energy or in renewable energy.This study is made in an quantitative way, the data has been gathered from the internet database Morningstar. The energy funds have had its biggest assets in companies dealing with oil, and the environmentally sound funds have had its biggest assets in renewable energy. Bye looking at the different funds rate of return and relating that to risk managing theories of Sharpe and Treynor, the authors compared the two types of funds.During the period that was looked at during this study ( third quarter of 2007 until third quarter 2010) the energy funds outperformed the environmentally sound funds in every aspect. .

Having an intranet as a source for information and communication is common in most contemporary organizations. Research shows that the intranet in itself does not have an explicit area of use, and that leaves every organization to make decisions of the associated functionality on their own. At the same time the strategic opportunities that the intranet could bring get lost somewhere along the way. This means that problems regarding the strategic use of an intranet becomes apparent and may result in loss of investments for the organization. The purpose of this thesis is to identify central choices that can be used as points of discussion and help organizations to work with their intranets on a more strategic level.

Trade is important for every country in the world. Commodities are transported between rich and poor countries everyday. Some of the trading partners are EU and Ethiopia, this because of less expensive commodities from EU than they are in Ethiopia. The most important agricultural commodity is wheat. Ethiopia is a poor country, whose inhabitants mostly are living on agriculture.

En metod som har fått ett stort genombrott i Norden i grundskolans tidigare år är Arne Tragetons läs- och skrivinlärningsmetod, att skriva sig till läsning (ASL). Eleverna använder datorn som skrivverktyg och arbetar i par. Pedagogen har en betydelsefull uppgift med att utforma skrivarpar där elever utvecklas och lär av varandra för att metoden ska fylla sin funktion. För att få ett samspel där barnen bidrar till varandras lärande finns det olika egenskaper som pedagoger utgår ifrån när de parar ihop sina elever.Syftet med vårt arbete är att undersöka vilka komponenter som pedagoger utgår ifrån när de utformar skrivarpar samt processen vid byte av par. Frågeställningarna som förde oss till vårt resultat innefattar: Hur planerar pedagoger arbetet med att dela in elever i skrivarpar? Vilka kvaliteter hos eleverna utgår de ifrån? När byter de skrivarpar under terminen? Hur skapar de gruppkonstellationer vid ojämnt antal elever?Vi skickade ut en intervjuenkät och fick in 34 svar som granskades på ett systematiskt sätt och begrepp bildades till kategorier.

Today?s community requires an increase in food production. Animals are today bred so that they produce more than their ancestors did. Production has been the most important and breeds with the highest production levels have therefore become popular. Many of the old local breeds have become extinct or are about to become extinct because of this trend.

Implementering av integrerade affärssystem har blivit allt vanligare. Många forskningsprojekt har fokuserat på användarna och hur de har upplevt systemen. Vår fallstudie av Sardus byte av affärssystem syftar till att se hur arbetsprocess och kravformulerande vid val av affärssystem är viktiga faktorer för hur väl systemen faller ut. Arbetsprocessen förutsätter en väl sammansatt projektgrupp med representanter från alla nivåer i organisationen och kravställandet ska också involvera alla nivåer för att täcka in de olika informationsbehov som finns i en organisation beroende på var den hanteras och med vilket syfte. Vi finner i vår fallstudie, som beskriver en tvåårig process för att byta system, ett skolboksexempel på en lyckad satsning både vad gäller arbetsorganisation och kravställande.

The use of group contribution between consolidated firms is a common phenomenon in Sweden where taxation is not based on the return on the consolidated level but on the return on the individual firms. However, the process of handling the group contribution does not work without problems. This thesis analyzes three main issues where group contributions oppose the Swedish Companies Act. ? The Swedish Companies Act enacts the decision regarding group contributions to be made at a shareholder?s meeting.

The objective of this paper is to describe and analyze female irregular immigrants and their experience of how relationships with other people affect their lives and identity.A qualitative method is used in the study, because my main purpose is to analyse the respondents? lives and life experiences. The analysis is based on a symbolic interactionism perspective. The results are also analyzed based on previous research and the concepts underlying the paper; irregular immigrants, discrimination, power and identity.In summary, the respondents have a clear picture of how they live and experience their relationship to others and themselves and how this affects their lives and identity.Their experiences affect their lives and influence their behaviour and identity when they interact with others. Their own view of their situation means that they are afraid to seek care or report sexual abuse, threats or other similar conditions.

This thesis investigates techniques for stealth hydroacoustic communication using spread spectrum. The Swedish naval defense organisations have a vision that all their units should be able to communicate with each other, even between underwater vehicles. But the properties of water makes it a complex channel to use for wireless communications. Radiomagnetic waves have very limited range in water, therefore acoustic waves are used. In this report the basics of wireless communication systems are described including source coding, channel coding, modulation techniques as well as different techniques for spread spectrum.

Att företag går över från en organisation med en chef till ett delat ledarskap med två chefer är en ny företeelse. Studier visar dock på att organisationsförändringar ofta misslyckas och att byte av ledarskap är en process som med stor sannolikhet stöter på problem. Denna studie har genom intervjuer med tre olika chefer undersökt problemställningen:Hur kan införandet av delat ledarskap se ut; vilka svårigheter kan ledarskapets chefer stöta på och vidtas det några förberedande åtgärder?Studien har genomförts med en hermeneutisk syn på kunskap och med ett deduktivt angreppssätt där det teoretiska ramverket legat till grund för empirinsamlingen från studiens respondenter.Resultatet av studien visar att det sätt som ledarskapet införs och formas på skiljer sig beroende på om cheferna själva tar initiativet till att införa ett delat ledarskap i organisationen, eller om initiativet kommer från den överordnande ledningen. De svårigheter som kan uppstå för cheferna grundar sig bland annat på den inbördes relationen, där trivseln dem emellan och tiden det tar att anpassa sig till varandras arbetssätt kan leda till svårigheter.
