This master thesis has been written in collaboration with Science Park Jönköping and is based on a problem related to corporate innovation. Science Park Jönköping believes that there is an untapped potential in existing industry in the form of ideas that are never commercialized. These theories are also supported in the research in which other authors have perceived that the ideas and inventions which do not belong to the core business risk ending up in drawers. If more of these ideas could be spin-offs or other forms of enterprise instead of staying in the drawers it would lead to growth, both for companies and for the society in large.The purpose of the thesis work is to, based on the case Science Park Jönköping, analyze how science parks and incubators can support the commercialization of ideas that derive from industry, who otherwise had been left lying. The work began with a mapping of the Science Park Jönköping operations and the skills they possess, and then other initiatives that aim to commercialize more ideas from companies were examined.

Local participation in nature conservation has gained more attention over the last decades due to international conventions as well as local and national initiatives. This development can be seen as a reaction to a more expert oriented nature conservation characterized by centralized control and strict preservation of so called "original" nature. The overall objective of this thesis is to contribute to research on new forms of conservation where democracy and local participation is included. The case study focuses on the process of producing a pre-study for a suggested national park in southern Jämtland in the Swedish mountain region, and aims to investigate to what extent local participation was included. The pre-study was led by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and the County Administrative Board (CAB) in Jämtland.

In the urban planning debate of today, two strategies for city development stand out as each other's opposites, urban sprawl and smart growth. This thesis concerns a development project of the latter kind and aims to give an alternative proposal to new buildings and a park in a Swedish city block. The term sprawl is used for new developments on virgin soil on the outskirts of cities leading to a city spreading, while smart growth stand for increased city density through development on re-used land within the city boundaries. The latter are often seen as more sustainable in many levels and are also shown to have positive effects on a number of city functions. At the same time smart growth has negative consequences on other aspects of the city such as public open spaces.

Syftet med rapporten är att jämföra spansk byggteknik kontra svensk byggteknik och granska likheter och skillnader mellan dessa. Många av oss svenskar är bosatta i andra länder bland dessa Spanien och många avstår från att bygga sitt hus och istället väljer de att köpa hus.Detta har sitt grund i att det inte finns tillräckligt med information som underlättar att genomföra ett bygge trots att många av dessa människor har byggt sitt hus själva här hemma i Sverige.Vi hoppas verkligen att vår undersökning blir grund till att allt fler med hjälp av dessa undersökningar och fakta lättare ska kunna bygga sitt hus i Spanien som länge har varit ett favoritmål för oss som älskar värme och glädje..

Today, there are few industries left in our cities. Industrial areas thatare located in urban settings close to water or city centers are oftenreplaced by housing. In my thesis I want to explore how such industrialsite located in an urban setting can be transformed into anindustrial park where the industrial structures are saved. By approachingthis type of environment in a positive manner, I wish tohighlight the potential aesthetic and functional value in the existingindustrial structure. Through the transformation and design of anexisting industrial site I will convey the previous use and history ofthe place.The wastewater treatment plant, Kungsängsverket, is located in thedistrict of Kungsängen in the southern part of Uppsala.

Denna uppsats har som syfte att dels undersöka människors upplevelser av otrygghet i offentliga parker och dels undersöka vilka fysiska åtgärder som medborgarna upplever ökar trygghetskänslan. Men även att undersöka om, och i så fall vilka, fysiska åtgärder som presenteras i kommunala parkprogram. Utifrån arbetets forskningsöversikt presenteras de teoretiska perspektiven, upplevelsen av otrygghet och den offentliga parken. Genom de teoretiska perspektiven förstår man vad en plats är och hur människor upplever otrygghet. De visar att våra egna erfarenheter, visioner och förutfattade meningar påverkar användningen av platsen.

Kan trygghet skapas? Trygghetsfrågorna har fått ett allt större utrymme i debatten om staden. Forskningen och debatten är långt ifrån entydig och recepten på trygghet varierar kraftigt mellan olika länder. Grovt kan de förespråkade åtgärderna delas in i två läger: säkerhet och trygghet. ?Säkerhet? med framför allt situationell brottsprevention med den filosofin att skadegörelse, våld och stölder leder till otrygghet, vilket i sin tur leder till att människor inte vågar ta plats i det offentliga rummet.

Lunds kommun har under några somrar tillbaka inventerat olika faunagrupper i olika naturområden i Genarp, en mindre ort som ligger cirka 2,5 mil sydöst om Lund. Under dessa somrar (2007-2010) hittades och registrerades nio olika rödlistade insektsarter i Blüchers park, ett naturområde med en mosaik av olika naturtyper på sandunderlag. Blüchers park är cirka 2,7 hektar stort och ligger i Genarps östra del. Detta arbete kompletterar de ovan nämnda insektsinventeringarna med en florainventering av Blüchers park. Syftet med arbetet är dels att söka förståelse till varför funna kärlväxter i Blüchers park växer där de växer, dels att ta reda på vilka skötselåtgärder som skulle kunna vara lämpliga i området, det vill säga hur förekomsten av funna rödlistade insektsarter kan komma att gynnas genom olika floraskötselåtgärder.Under juni-augusti 2011 återfanns 175 kärlväxtarter i Blüchers park.

When new land use policies are made, opinions of stakeholders need to be taken in account, to avoid future conflicts. The motivations of commercial enterprises are often clear and easily communicated but due to inaccessibility and language barriers the indigenous people?s perspectives and needs are harder to reveal. This study therefore aims to identify species and sites of importance for the local people in Masihulan village on Seram Island, East Indonesia. This is a first step to facilitate better integration of local people´s needs into local government decision-making processes.Researchers at the Center of International Forestry Research (CIFOR), with headquarter in Indonesia, have developed an approached called ?Multidisciplinary Landscape Assessment? that aims to assess important natural resources for local communities in tropical countries.

This paper constitutes graduate work at the Depart-ment of Urban and Rural Development at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. In this paper the urban structure of the million program suburb Husby in Stockholm is examined and what effect this structure has on social life in the area. The main objective of the study has been to, with the help of morphological analyses, examine how to create meeting places and make the Husby Park more accessiblefor the inhabitants in Husby. There has been a selection of analyses to ensure that Husby?s spatial relationship with surrounding suburbs as well as local spaces in the Husby Park is described.

Att bebygga delar av parkområden är ett alltmer vanligt sätt att förtäta staden. I det här sättet att bygga ingår ofta ambitionen att utnyttja närheten till parken som en stor tillgång och en huvudkvalitet hos de nya bostäderna. Den nya bebyggelsen innebär att ett nytt nyttjande läggs till vars ambitioner förutsätter det gamla nyttjandet. Syftet är att ge en förklaring till problematiken och visa exempel på hur den kan undvikas. Utgångspunkten ligger i en studie av begreppet territorialitet, hur territorier uppstår och fungerar.

Ett ökande problem inom Europa och Sverige är invasiva skadegörare på vedartad material av släktet Phytophthora. Dessa introducerade patogener har samevolverat med värdväxter i sin ursprungliga miljö. När dessa skadegörare sprids i andra ekosystem kan de orsaka ett epidemiskt sjukdomsförlopp på flertalet olika växter i sin nya miljö. Phytophthora alni subsp. uniformis är en typisk sådan skadegörare, vars geografiska ursprung är oklart men troligtvis är den en hybrid mellan två arter av Phytophthora som med hjälp av plantskolehandeln möts.

Induction motors, often referred to as the workhorse of the industry, play an important role in production today. Therefore, it's important to diagnose any faulty induction motor prior to failure to avoid costly and time consuming production stops.This thesis compares methods for diagnosing induction motors in operation, MCSA, Park's vector approach and the standard method used by Swedish industries today. By simulating broken rotor bars and short-circuit in one of the windings, each method is tested and the results are compared using matlab.The results need further verification due to uncertainties of the condition of the test motor, even though the experiment gives a hint of the different advantages of each method. A combination of the methods should be able to tell if the motor needs further examination..

Hidden away in the pristine landscape on the northeast shore of the Dominican Republic, the remote village of Miches is on the verge of shifting its economic resource base from traditional fishing into what could become an international model for sustainable tourism. The aim of this thesis was to produce a vision of a waterfront park near the center of the village; demonstrating concept-based landscape design that reflects the goals of sustainable development originating from the local incentive structure. A composite landscape analysis and design concept both served to inform and guide the design work, which was executed through model building, hand drawings, and production of a visual presentation in the format of an architectural competition entry. The design concept, All invited, signifies the distinction between the development that is about to take place in Miches and the otherwise common all-inclusive resorts, where tourists are set apart from the local community and spend most of their time within the fenced-off premises of the hotel. All invited also captures the typical Dominican hospitality, and mirrors the aspirations of turning Miches into a safe and welcoming place for visitors. The result is a public park design that is equally inviting local residents as it is to tourists, and where the unique qualities of the site are emphasized without being exploited.

Idén är att förena en park med en storslagen byggnad, utan att tappa den elegans och storhet som en opera identifieras med. Jag låter byggnaden sträcka ut sig där den kan nå alla hörn, uppmana befolkningen i närheten att våga sig fram till denna kulturens enorma rum och uppleva Operan- på, under och innanför..
