Amalie Skram (1846-1905) was born in Norway but lived in Denmark. She published several books about gender relations and built up a reputation as a naturalistic writer. In 1894, a nervous breakdown made her seek help from the famous psychiatrist Knud Pontoppidan. He sent her to an asylum, but she returned home after spending two months in psychiatric care. In 1895, Skram published two novels about the painter Else Kant, based on her own experiences but not written as autobiographies.

AbstractIT can facilitate communication among individuals and connect people across geographical distances. On the contrary, citizens of the society who do not use communication technologies to some extent might feel excluded from the information society. As elderly citizens are already in a vulnerable position for the digital divide, communication technology becomes an important tool for interacting with friends and family. The social situation of elderly, 60 years of age and older, is a topic of current interest since they are the fastest growing age group in the world today. Further, social interaction becomes more important among elderly since it has a positive effect on well- being.

The globalization of political and economic processes is a growing moral concern for theologians and political philosophers alike. My thesis aims to outline, analyze, and compare church studies of globalization with global theories of justice.To do this, I draw upon recent studies of globalization made by the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). The WCC and LWF are two global reaching church organizations. They have a common aim of uniting churches for ecumenical dialogue and are involved in social, economic, political, and ecological questions. The WCC and LWF analyze globalization by applying biblical and theological principles from the Christian tradition.

Flexibla arbetstider kan vara en faktor som bidrog till att respondenterna upplevde balans i livet. Individer som upplevde stress ansåg dock att lönemodellen påverkade deras upplevda balans i livet och ansåg även att de inte hade balans mellan familje- och arbetsliv.Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Studiens syfte samt forskningsfrågor behöver vidare forskning för att fastlås eller avslås. Även faktorn flexibla arbetstider bör studeras vidare för att fastställa om den bidrar till balans mellan familje- och arbetsliv hos fastighetsmäklare.Uppsatsens bidrag: Studien kan inspirera franchisetagare eller chefer inom branschen att utforma stabilare och bättre villkor för sina anställda utifrån vår studies resultat..

This master thesis project at KTH is performed in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineeringdepartment at University of Florida (UF). The thesis is a small part of a gas turbine researchproject where a vapour absorption refrigeration system (VARS) and a high pressure regenerativeturbine engine (HPRTE) are integrated together. The main objective is to build a computermodel of the VARS. The computer model is supposed to be used to analyse the off-designperformance of the VARS and should also be easy to integrate as a subroutine in a more complexsystem model. To model the VARS some knowledge of the absorbent/refrigerant mixture had tobe well known, in this case a mixture of ammonia and water.

Syfte: Syfte med denna studie är att skapa förståelse hur lagen om anmälningsplikt har påverkat relationen mellan revisorn och klient. Vidare är syftet att undersöka om revisorer informerar sina klienter om lagen om anmälningsplikt idag.Metod: Studien genomfördes enligt den kvalitativa metoden i form av intervjuer inom Gävleborgs område. Intervjuer genomfördes med åtta auktoriserade revisorer och tre företagsledare.Resultat/Slutsatser: Den genomförda studien har visat att revisorer inte informerar sina klienter om lagen om anmälningsplikt än idag. Enligt de tillfrågade revisorerna har inte lagen om anmälningsplikt påverkat relationen mellan revisor och klient, utan relationen kan bara försämras med de oseriösa klienterna. Studiens företagsledare ansåg inte heller att relationen med revisorn har påverkats på grund av lagen om anmälningsplikt.

Around year 2004, a new service was introduced on the Swedish housing market with the purpose of increasing the sell price, namely homestaging. Homestaging means that a home gets in order before a open house, for example by removing personal affections or the leasing of new furniture. The phenomenon originates from the United States, where it has existed for several decades.Most components, but not all, that is included in the homestaging concept is tax-deductible and this has lead to several questions around the law and foremost within tax law. To elucidate this complexity of problems around the right to deduction for homestaging, the Swedish tax agency, Skatteverket, has formulated a letter stating the authority?s attitude towards the phenomenon.

We have different kinds of signal processing everywhere around us in our everyday life, in our cellphones, when we are listening to music, watching TV etc. This makes signal processing a very interesting and important technical area, where the demand of skilled engineers sets the limit of what is possible.Working with signal processing requires in-depth knowledge in areas such as mathematics, physics, electronics, and other related areas. For this, it has traditionally been demanded by a talented developer to also master the advanced programming languages such as C / C + + and Assembler.This has begun to change; today there are several companies that offer graphical development environments for signal processing, environments where programming skills are not needed anymore, and the focus can be on signal processing instead.The goal with this project is to build a corresponding graphical development environment to reach an understanding of what is required of these systems, and also to grasp what opportunities that are available within graphic programming. Inspiration for the work has partly arise from some of the tools available on the market, and partly from previous theses that have been written about graphic programming.The challenge lies in creating a program that can execute signal diagrams in real time from given signal blocks, and be able to handle feedback loops in an efficient way and to do so at the lowest "cost" in terms of clock cycles as possible. This should also be compared against to code, compile and run a complete signal diagram directly.To increase the usability it should also be possibility to externally manage in real time the parameters of the signal diagram during execution.The interface is a separate program, which is to some extent similar to Matlab Simulink, where a signal diagram is drawn up graphically by connecting wires between different signal blocks.

Bakgrund: Målstyrning är ett ofta tillämpat verktyg i offentlig verksamhet där övergripande mål uppstår på politisk nivå och sedan bryts ner genom en målhierarki för att fungera på respektive nivå. Målstyrning innebär att mål sätts för en verksamhets delar eller helhet och målens syfte är att berörda aktörer ska arbeta i samma riktning. Målstyrning kräver att mål kontrolleras och därför behöver målen vara mätbara så att en jämförelse av planerade och uträttade mål blir möjlig. Målen kan ha olika betydelse och det bör framgå om de avser resurser, prestationer eller resultat.Problemformulering: Hur förhåller sig chefer på olika nivåer i en offentlig verksamhet till mål inom målstyrning?Syfte: Studien avser att bidra till fördjupad förståelse och kunskap om mål inom målstyrning där avgränsningen är att urskilja hur chefer på olika nivåer förhåller sig till detta styrsystem.Metod: En kvalitativ fallstudie inom socialförvaltningen i en kommun i Skaraborg.Teori: Litteratur och vetenskapliga artiklar om målstyrning och institutionell teori ligger till grund för vår teoretiska referensram.

This study aimed to evaluate the levels of formaldehyde and organic acids that can build up within enclosed spaces. Another goal was to compare two types of paints that can be used as coating barriers within showcases and in turn compare them to the modern, and by many highly recommended, material of Marveseal®. A low volatile waterborne alkyd/acrylate paint and a two component polyurethane paint was compared to Marveseal® in two series of experiments. One series measured the level of formaldehyde, and thus the effectiveness of the three chosen barriers, and the other series measured the level of volatile organic acids, both the acids emitted from the paint itself, and that of the wood. One box in each series were not treated at all and was used as a reference.The fact that different types of materials emit volatile organic compounds have long been known.

Denna uppsats syftar till att dels beskriva, dels med utvald ekonomisk teori analysera regleringen av den svenska formen av kasinoverksamhet. Av särskilt intresse är att diskutera orsaken till den svenska lagstiftningen som reglerar spelverksamhet samt lagstiftningens relevans för en spelverksamhet som är utsatt för utländsk konkurrens. För att besvara syftet har följande frågeställningar formulerats: - Hur kan regleringen av den svenska spelverksamheten förklaras utifrån ekonomisk teori? - Vad är motiven till den svenska lagstiftningen som reglerar spelverksamhet? - Hur är kasinoverksamheten i USA och Storbritannien utformad? - Hur kan en framtida reglering av spelmarknaden utformas? Regleringen av spelmarknaden kan dels förklaras utifrån välfärdsteori, dels utifrån politisk ekonomi i form av särintresseteorin. Välfärdsteorin förklarar regleringen av spelmarknaden genom att den dels kan ses som en marknad som ger upphov till negativa externa effekter i form av spelmissbruk, dels som ett naturligt monopol då det finns stordriftsfördelar i information och kontrollen av verksamheten.

This project was a request of Norrbodal´s Forestry Board, Västra Götaland. It was performed as a qualitative interview analysis of private forest owner?s deficient motivation regarding pre-commercial thinning. The purpose of the project is to investigate what the Forestry Board can do to motivate private forest owners to do more pre-commercial thinning. The results build upon 16 qualitative phone interviews with forest owners that have their forest within the district of Norrbodal. The owners are divided into two groups, the one who have performed the pre-commercial thinning and the one that has possible pre-commercial thinning needs on their properties according to the pre-commercial thinning analysis ,which is the result of a satellite analysis.

Syfte: Denna uppsats syftar till att se om den svenska koden för bolagsstyrning har levt upp till sitt ursprungliga syfte, att förbättra bolagsstyrningen samt att öka förtroendet. På så sätt ska vi avgöra vilken betydelse sådan här reglering har för styrning av svenska bolag och förtroendet för dessa. Vi har även för avsikt att se om och i så fall hur inställningen till koden har förändrats efter införandet. Metod: För att uppfylla vårt syfte har vi valt att försöka få en övergripande bild av ämnet snarare än att gå in på detaljnivå. Vi har gjort detta genom att genomföra kvalitativa intervjuer med tre olika respondentgrupper ? revisionsbyråer, företagare och experter.Teori: Vi har i vår teori tagit utgångspunkt i förtroende och socialt kapital, företagsskandaler, corporate governance och agent-prinicpalteorin.
