This essay aims to analyse the social and physical interaction through the Body inpublic space, based on the performances Twilight Walk by The New Beauty Council, and Crawl, by William Pope.L. As part of the performance-programme CityExcavations from Gothenburg International Biennial of Contemporary Art 2011,artists occupied the streets of Gothenburg for a few days in June 2011. Through aninterpretation on performativity and feminism architecture-theory this essay looks intohow bodies integrate with public space; on how space potentially includes or excludesrepresentations of different bodies and the construction of (gender) identities. I wantto discuss how bodily performances such as movements, gestures, visual andemotional expressions interact with architecture and social contexts..
Introduction: Pregnancy, obesity, aging and certain diseases are examples of conditions thataffect the Body, its constitution and composition. Simpler methods to estimate Bodycomposition are needed to complement more advanced traditional methods to better identifythe health status without sacrificing accuracy and precision. Objective: To validate the results of Body composition from bioelectrical impedancespectroscopy (BIS) against results from the study reference method, dual energy X-rayabsorption (DXA), in overweight and obese lactating women after childbirth.Method: The design of the LEVA-study (Lifestyle for Effective Weight loss during lactation)consisted both intervention and longitudinal follow-up, which gave the opportunity tovalidate the absolute values (accuracy) and the ability to detect changes (precision). Themean difference between methods was tested statistically by paired t-test. Bland-Altman plotsused to examine the degree of agreement between BIS and DXA, but also distribution andany systematic differences. Association between methods was measured by using Pearson´scorrelation coefficient. Results: Between BIS and DXA, absolute measurements of the variables fat-free mass (FFM)and fat mass (FM) showed a statistically significant difference (p < 0.001).
Hospitals have a set perception as an unpleasant and frighteningatmosphere. The examination-rooms of today within the children?shospitals are often bare and needs embellishment and decoration tocreate a satisfying setting. The project result are two boards of glass-enamelledsteel.
In this paper I have studied how feminist parents talk to their children about Body and sexuality and with which intentions they speak the way they do. The aim of the study was to locate strategies applied to give children positive relations to their bodies and their sexuality. My data are constituted by answers from a questionnaire sent out to an e-mail list for feminist parents. The answers have been compiled and analyzed, mainly qualitatively by the use of discourse analysis, with support of poststructuralist theories about language, gender and heteronormativity, as well as theories about children?s sexuality.
The purpose of this paper consists of examining the different ways of thinking about death and life beyond death conveyed in the game Grim Fandango Remastered. This was done by using a theoretical framework consisting of a self invented definition of death called "Bodily death". This definition consists of common notions about death such as cessation of life functions like movement, metabolism, respiration and overall cessation of brain functions. It also included cessation of vital processes, which includes the ability to make energy transfer, making reparations, for example by cell replication, as well as the waste system of the Body. Besides this, the study examines the prevalence of dualism, a conception that views the soul essential to the individual's mental state. Two kinds of dualism were investigated, simple dualism with the assumption that the individual is made up of the soul, and compound dualism, where soul and Body are dependent on each other for the survival of the individual.
The present study discusses the metabolism of ethanol in the human Body from the ingestion of ethanol to the excretion of its break down products water and carbon dioxide. Ethanol is a small molecule, soluble in water as well as in organic solutions. It is quickly distributed to every section in the Body, where it exerts a direct toxic effect on the cells. Ethanol cannot directly leave the Body efficiently so it needs other metabolic pathways. The molecule is metabolized by oxidation, predominately in the liver.

In this essay, I want to achieve an accessible and applicable entrance to Alexander Technique as a method for learning to use the Body in such a way as to allow emotional expression in music. It is necessary to see the real need of Alexander Technique for the active musician, and therefore important components of music-making will be presented. These components are presented from an Alexander-perspective in order to produce a clear picture of the method of application. The prerequisite for emotional expression in music is musicians and music listeners with the ability to generate, and respond after emotional impressions. Alexander Technique provides an approach to make it easier for musicians, especially guitarists, to express emotions in a performance situation. After years of practice and obtaining musical knowledge and practical skills at the instrument, it is common that muscle tension and ingrained patterns contribute to limited expression. Muscle tensions arising from pressured situations such as auditions, competitions and concerts.
Smärta hos djur :
We have made a litterature study about pain in animals. In this studie we have brought up
areas like sign of pains in animals, pain relief and the care perspective.
Pain is perceived when Body tissue is damaged or nearly damaged by stimuli. Nociceptors,
which are receptors placed at nerve endings, responds to a provocation of pain and
transmit an impulse along the nerve to the brain via the spinal cord. Pain is urgent or
chronic, and can be divided into nociceptive pain (somatic pain and visceral pain) and
neuropathic pain. Different pain mechanisms can arise, such as referred pain, which is
when signals of pain are referred to other parts of the Body.
O/ändliga o/möjligheter i Kathy Ackers Great Expectations och Alison Knowles The Big Book
In this paper I'm trying to trace, analyze and emphasize Kathy Acker?s Great Expectations and Alison Knowles?s The Big Book in regard to the books in/finite im/possibilities. I analyze them through historical changes in the books format and structure, especially ones proposed by Mallarmé, Duchamp and Fluxus. To analyze the texts more closely attention is directed to how Acker and Knowles challenge the conventional narrative, in regard to the Body and language/voice and sound. I give specific emphasizes to thoughts posted by écriture féminine, while also adding Mara Lee?s temporalities in regard to Body resistance and time.
Inclusion Body Disease hos boa- och pytonorm : diagnostiska metoder
Inclusion Body disease (IBD) affecting boas and pythons is a serious and common disease. Boas can be clinically healthy carriers, which makes control of the disease difficult. The causative agent has not yet been confidently identified, and therefore there are no serodiagnostic tests available. Today, histopathologic examination of tissue biopsies is the recommended antemortem diagnostic method, but there are several disadvantages. The objective of this study was to compare the sensitivity of two diagnostic methods ? liver biopsies and blood smears, and to evaluate ultrasoundguided needle biopsy of the liver.
