We have made a litterature study about pain in animals. In this studie we have brought up areas like sign of pains in animals, pain relief and the care perspective. Pain is perceived when body tissue is damaged or nearly damaged by stimuli. Nociceptors, which are receptors placed at nerve endings, responds to a provocation of pain and transmit an impulse along the nerve to the brain via the spinal cord. Pain is urgent or chronic, and can be divided into nociceptive pain (somatic pain and visceral pain) and neuropathic pain. Different pain mechanisms can arise, such as referred pain, which is when signals of pain are referred to other parts of the body.

 Denna studie utgår från fältet organisationskommunikation med inriktning på intern kommunikation i förändringsprocesser. Tidigare forskning inom detta fält har huvudsakligen utgått från ett modernistiskt perspektiv som uppfattar kommunikation i förändringsprocesser som något som kan förmedlas till de passiva organisationsmedlemmarna. Nu har detta perspektiv alltmer förkastats och kommunikation ses istället som meningsskapande processer där organisationsmedlemmarna fungerar som aktiva uttolkare av kommunikationen. Det saknas dock forskning kring detta perspektiv, speciellt gällande en alltmer vanlig organisationsförändring idag, nämligen införandet av ett intranät. Därför ligger denna studies huvudsakliga intresse på medarbetarna i organisationen och studiens mål och syfte blir att försöka bidra till en ökad förståelse för de meningsskapande processerna kring intranät, i hur det uppfattas och används i praktiken.

In this paper I'm trying to trace, analyze and emphasize Kathy Acker?s Great Expectations and Alison Knowles?s The Big Book in regard to the books in/finite im/possibilities. I analyze them through historical changes in the books format and structure, especially ones proposed by Mallarmé, Duchamp and Fluxus. To analyze the texts more closely attention is directed to how Acker and Knowles challenge the conventional narrative, in regard to the body and language/voice and sound. I give specific emphasizes to thoughts posted by écriture féminine, while also adding Mara Lee?s temporalities in regard to body resistance and time.

Inclusion body disease (IBD) affecting boas and pythons is a serious and common disease. Boas can be clinically healthy carriers, which makes control of the disease difficult. The causative agent has not yet been confidently identified, and therefore there are no serodiagnostic tests available. Today, histopathologic examination of tissue biopsies is the recommended antemortem diagnostic method, but there are several disadvantages. The objective of this study was to compare the sensitivity of two diagnostic methods ? liver biopsies and blood smears, and to evaluate ultrasoundguided needle biopsy of the liver.

Digital depth-to-water maps can be produced from a digital elevation model (DEM). Then GIS- based algorithms are used to calculate water flows and the depth-to-water index classes dry, fresh, moist and wet. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility to use depth- to-water maps for site adapted planting.The results showed that use of depth-to-water maps for site adapted planting, roughly halved the proportion of improperly planted surfaces from an average of 9 % to 4 %. The variation in the values of proper surface decreased and the result became more even.. In addition, more pine than spruce was incorrectly planted.

The content of the following report is the summarized result of three students thesis at Blekinge Institute of Technology in co-operation with Water Jet Sweden AB. This report will give the reader a description of principles how to measure the abrasive mass flow in a waterjet cutting system. The work began with a visit to Water Jet Sweden AB to get a closer look at the problem. When the analysis of the problem was done the criteria were defined in the form of demands and desires. The main task of the criteria was to guide the search for the solution. The work proceeded with an extensive search for abrasive flow meters along with obtaining information about flow measurement in general. When the search for abrasive flow meters resulted in nothing all the efforts were concentrated on finding a principle of measurement that could cope with the criteria.

Due to increasing regulations regarding new diesel vehicles particulate matteremissions the new Scania truck, Scania Euro 6, has been equipped with a particulatefilter. This component effectively stores the particles in the exhaust gas but must becleaned in order to prevent itself from clogging. The filter is cleaned through aprocess named regeneration which is a thermodynamic process in which thetemperature of the filter is raised through fuel supplied to the exhaust gas.The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the development of improved controlstrategies of the temperature during the regeneration process through thedevelopment of model-based controllers. These controllers are designed in order tohave good performance in stationary as well as automatic regeneration.In order to develop these model-based controllers a model of the system isconstructed. The model is described as a linear thermodynamic grey-box model withflow varying parameters, showing good results in validation.The model provides a simulation environment during the controller design, which isfocused around the development of linear regulators with the exhaust gas mass flowas a scheduling variable whose size determines controllers? mode of operation.

Många forskare har sett att luftens föroreningar ackumuleras i bålen hos epifytiska lavar och påverkar dem. Detta gör att utifrån vilka lavar som lever i ett område går det att dra slutsatser om hur påverkad miljön är av luftföroreningar. Utifrån detta faktum har busk- och bladlavar inventerats längs en sträcka av E4:an norr om Gävle. I undersökningen inventerades 36 tallar och 6 björkar längs med E4:an och 18 tallar och 4 björkar i ett referensområde några kilometer från E4:an. På dessa 64 träd och hittades 15 olika lavarter och en alg.

This study aimed to describe children?s experience of living with overweight or obesity, by using a literature-review. The study includes eleven articles, data is from children between ages 5-15 year. The result occurring were in the areas; Quality of life and self-esteem, Social company, Body concept and weight reduction and Psychological unhealth. BMI above what is recommended gives a negative influence on quality of live and self-esteem.

Uppsatsen grundas kring teorier om att aktiemarknadens aktörer är relativt dåliga på att förutspå aktiers utveckling. Den helt rationelle investeraren som är en av grundstenarna för teorin om den effektiva marknadsportföljen verkar ej existera. Den effektiva marknadsportföljen, praktiskt uttryckt som ett marknadsvärdeviktat index, blir då en olämplig förebild att följa vid investeringsförfarande. Vidare grundas undersökningen på teori vilken antyder att historiska resultat ger en god indikation om företags framtida utveckling. Vi har studerat en stor mängd företag noterade på den svenska börsen under perioden 1992-2003.

The purpose of the study was to inquire into pupils? attitude towards the current beauty ideal from a gender- and an ethnicity perspective. The study was based on a quantitative survey among 116 young students about prevailing beauty ideal from two different schools in the Stockholm area. The result showed that the students are partially characterized by the stereotyped images of women and men but that there are tendencies towards another view especially among the girls. It is however clear that appearance still is important.

Denna uppsats behandlar konkurrensgraden på marknaden för utlåning i Sverige för de fyra storbankerna, Nordea, Handelsbanken, S-E-banken och Föreningssparbanken under tidsperioden 1989-2002. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka konkurrenssituationen på den svenska bankmarknaden för utlåning bland de fyra storbankerna. Studien syftar även till att undersöka hur bankernas prissättning har påverkats av fusionen. För att få en förståelse för ämnet inleds uppsatsen med en teoretisk genomgång till de olika fusionsmotiven. Denna teoretiska genomgång har sedan legat till grund för den modell som beskriver efterfrågan.

SammanfattningBody Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) karaktäriseras av en fixering vid en inbillad defekt i utseendet. BDD leder till påtagligt lidande och svårigheter att fungera i vardagen. Diagnosen förknippas med depressivitet, social ångest och hög suicidrisk. Syftet med studien var att under svenska förhållanden prova en behandling bestående av exponering med responsprevention (ERP) och monitorering på patienter med svår BDD-problematik. I single-case designer av 5 patienter undersöktes effekten av ERP som specifik faktor utöver terapeutnärvaro och monitorering.

Background: The studies analyzed have shown among other things that ageism appears to be an overlooked category in intersectionality studies, elderly is offered care in worse conditions than non-elderly and stereotypes restrict elderlys social space to act. The gray tsunami is approaching but studies show that large gaps separate different agegroups. Aims: The study discuss how scientists reason about ageism towards elderly in a social science discussion. Method: A literature review was conducted in which fifteen articles were analyzed. The database used, is the librariescatalog Summon, at Malmö University. The articles was compiled in themes to give dilated clarity in ageisms complexity towards elderly. The results are being discussed on the basis of terror management theory, gerotranscendence and social identitity theory. Results: Elderlys relation to society's expectations about aging can affect a self/body-dualism, a split.

Den äldre befolkningen ökar, och med färre platser på särskilda boendeformer tenderar de äldre boende hemma med hemtjänst att bli allt fler samt mer hjälpberoende. Hos den äldre befolkningen är fall ett stort hälsoproblem. Trettio procent av alla över 70 år boende i eget hem faller minst en gång varje år. Inre faktorer kan påverka individens balansförmåga och därmed ses som riskfaktor för fall. Fem äldre personer i Bodens kommun boende hemma med hemtjänst, med assistans vid personlig vård, har besökts för att pröva om Downton Fall Risk Index, chairstand test, stående balanstest och gångtest är tillämpbara i hemmiljö.
