This paper is an analysis of the novel Season of Migration to The North by Tayeb Salih. Season of Migration to The North was first published in 1967 and it is the most accomplished among several works in modern Arabic literature.I shall focus on one of the two major characters, Mustafa Said, a young Sudanese student whose brilliant career at school in Sudan and Cairo eventually brings him to England; he has a successful academic career in England as a lecturer at the University of London.One of the major themes of the novel is the confrontation between Mustafa Said and England, which in other terms is described as the confrontation between East and West. The conflict is rooted in colonialism. Mustafa Said?s native country, Sudan, was a British colony when the story takes place.

This paper will discuss the proposed reintroducing of a final degree in upper secondary school. In a public government inquiry that was released in March 2008 a proposal about reintroducing a final degree in upper secondary school was presented. A final degree has not been a part of the upper secondary school science 1968. Why was the system with a final degree abounded and why do the government want to reintroduce it?Research in pedagogy has through the years presented numbers of theories about assessment.

A group of two people, Jelena Durkan and Johan von Heideken, have worked together on an assignment from the company August Lundh AB. The company manufactures plastic products for all sizes of catering establishments. The basis for this thesis is a pre-study which shows that many of the users would be more drawn to the plates that the company manufactures, if there was a motif on the plates.This thesis will present the method of application for the motif that best benefits the company, with regard to the requirements placed on the motif, application method and the costs. The group found five relevant methods that were more carefully examined and compared to each other. Those are:Laser engraving, Hot-stamping, Injection molding, In-mould labeling and Pad-printing.The tools that have been used to solve this problem are: Requirement specification, QFD and OEE.

Heat stress negatively influences the performance of dairy cattle such as lactation and reproduction. Heat stress can cause production losses as well as welfare problems. Years of research have shown that heat stress is a huge problem for dairy cattle in both the tropics and temperate zones but no such research have so far been done in northern European countries. It seems like shade is an important tool when improving pasture conditions and therefore deserves more attention. The aim with this study was to investigate whether there is a need of providing shade for grazing dairy cows during the summer in Sweden. Two groups of lactating Swedish Red dairy cows (n=15 per group) were kept on pasture.

Sällan utvecklas emellertid på vilket sätt detta konstnärliga tar sig uttryck. Uppsatsens syfte är att musikanalytiskt undersöka vad som kan motivera formuleringarna och om de kan anses adekvata. Materialet för undersökningen är tre verk/låtar ur rockgenren, som beskrivits med ovanstående begrepp: Close to the Edge med gruppen Yes från 1972, Sense of Doubt med David Bowie från 1977 och Sleep med gruppen Godspeed You! Black Emperor från 2000. Metoden är den auditiva musikanalysen, vilket innebär att analysen utgår från ett aktivt lyssnande på musikens förlopp.

Gerbera jamesonii is a plant with a large amount of pollen and various flower colours and a favourite host plant for Frankliniella occidentalis. The best growing temperature for gerbera is approximately 20°C. Frankliniella occidentalis or the Western Flower Thrips is a small insect that has become an important pest in greenhouse cultivation all over the world. The high temperatures in the greenhouse are favourable for F. occidentalis.

The Swedish photographer and artist Eva Klasson, based in Paris in the 1970s, gained attention for her series of black-and-white photography of her own naked body, which opened up for an international artistic career in the late 1970s. Despite a promising career she however abandoned photography and disappeared from the artistic sphere only a few years after her debut. There has been a renewed interest in Klasson?s work in Sweden the last decade where she has been exhibited at museums and galleries. Today she is represented at art museums and institutions including Moderna Museet, The Modern Museum of Art, in Stockholm.

An uncountable number of companies are present in foreign markets as a result of what we commonly choose to call globalization. This is especially true for Swedish companies traditionally operating on small markets. A company that is about to establish on a new market is faced not only with possibilities but also with challenges and risks. Researchers have found that companies that establish on foreign markets will have to deal with competitors on the national as well as on the global market, and therefore need consider how they globalize their brands. In addition to this, a brand can only reach international success if its message is coherent within and across every single market.

As birch is one of the most common trees in Sweden, and probably one of the easiest for someone who lives here to identify, it is interesting to note that most people do not know how variable the genus is and how widely it is distributed across the northern hemisphere. One can find birch growing at both high and low elevations, demanding different soil conditions and preferring varying amounts of sunlight. Many people may also be surprised to hear that the colour of the bark can vary from bight white to almost black, and different shades of pink, orange and red can also be displayed. This, together with the astonishing beauty of the genus, the important role as a pioneer in many ecological systems and the difficulty in sorting out the taxonomy of the genus, constitutes the background of this thesis. The thesis is written at the Department of Landscape Development in Alnarp, Sweden with Kenneth Lorentzon, researcher at the Swedish University of Agriculture as a supervisor. The aim of this thesis is to highlight which species and cultivars within the genus Betula could be appropriate for horticultural use in Sweden.

Gender politics in Sweden is considered unique because gender policies (jämställdhet) are integrated into national politics and politicised both in the public and the private sphere. The Swedish case is therefore considered a role model by many feminist scholars.This view has been criticised by both post modern feminists and public administration scholars. Critics imply that the increased immigration and more heterogeneous population have led to a new challenge for state institutions. The Swedish model, with its universal welfare solutions, lacks the ability to recognise differences within groups. Universal solutions that treat everyone the same is no longer the most just way to treat people.The growing use of goal orientation in Swedish public administration has increased the civil servants discretion in the implementation process, and thereby the space for differentiated treatment.

Innovation är ett område som under de senaste decennierna alltmer framstått som en nödvändig förutsättning för tillväxt, både hur det framställs i forskning och i olika policydokument. En sökning på Google visar att innovation tillsammans med tillväxt ger 210 000 träffar, varav många av träffarna är regeringens, myndigheters, självstyrelseorgans eller företagsstödjande organisationers hemsidor. Innovation är något som framställs som något gott och nödvändigt för vårt samhälle och det är svårt att hitta kritiska perspektiv på innovation. Genom att man inte talar om diskursen inom innovation, som t.ex inom entreprenörskapsforskningen, ges inte utrymme för alternativa sätt att förstå och förklara innovation på.Syftet med mitt arbete är att undersöka och granska hur innovation och innovatören beskrivs i innovationspolitiken genom att analysera regeringens strategi för innovation, Innovativa Sverige mot bakgrund av fyra identifierade aspekter på innovation inom innovationsforskningen. En viktig utgångspunkt för denna analys blir hur innovation förstås och förklaras inom rådande forskning kring innovation.

Konkurrensen om kunderna blir allt hårdare och numera konsumerar vi inte bara det som är nödvändigt utan även ur ett nöjesperspektiv, shopping har blivit en fritidsysselsättning och ett sätt att umgås för många. När det gäller nöjesshopping så blir själva upplevelsen och intrycken i butiken en avgörande faktor för om kunden väljer att handla i butiken, butikskommunikationen är där med ett viktigt konkurrensmedel vid kampen om kunderna.Uppsatsens undersökning grundar sig på att vi har besökt fyra stycken butiker som ingår i en specifik franchisekedja inom heminredningsbranschen. Vi ville med detta granska hur kedjan jobbar med att ge samma intryck till kunderna oavsett läge och placering samt hur kunderna uppfattar butiksatmosfären och därifrån komma fram till vad som kan förbättras. Vi intervjuade ett antal besökande kunder från vardera butik för att få fram hur de uppfattade butiksmiljön. Vi har även intervjuat butikernas respektive butikschefer samt kedjans butikskommunikations ansvarige, detta för att få fram hur de tänker och arbetar kring ämnet butikskommunikation.Vår uppsats bygger både på kvalitativ samt kvantitativ undersökningsmetod, detta anser vi har varit en fördel eftersom detta säkrade upp att vi fick med alla delar.

This work is about getting to know tufting as a technique and to design tufted products for home furnishing.It all began in Finland, where during springtime 2004, I got in contact with the technique oftufting for the first time. A very pleasant meeting that resulted in two carpets and a longing to continueand learn more. It was then that an idea for my final project started to take form. My wish was to designtufted ?floor jewelleries? and cushions.I made a base for my project during a design project in autumn 2004.

När bankerna drabbas av kreditförluster är det oftast en följd av fastighetsbolagens bristande betalningsförmåga. Fastighetsbolag är generellt högt belånat, och lån ses som ett incitament vars syfte är bland annat signalera marknaden om företagets goda framtidsutsikter. Bolagen strävar efter en balans av finansieringsmedel vilket är förhållandet mellan eget kapital samt lånat kapital, benämnt kapitalstruktur. Enligt Myers (1984) väljer företag i första hand att finansieras av kvarhållna vinster, utifrån vinsterna distribueras utdelningar.

Package design constitutes an important marketing and differentiation tool in an increasingly competitive food market, particularly in the category of daily consumer goods where the turnover rate is high and the purchases are based on self-service (Hine, 1997; Spethmann, 1994; Underwood, 1999). Media fragmentation undermines the traditional marketing tools and the demands for packaging are bigger than ever. A package must not only sell a product, but also tell, through design, how the product is used and express the values that the trademark owner wishes to convey to the end customer (Underwood, 1998). The understanding of the role of packaging as a marketing tool has increased, but the initiators inside the packaging industry in Sweden still think that the Swedish packaging industry is developing slowly. They often describe Swedish packages as homogeneous and unimaginative.
