Trees in urban environment are exposed to extreme conditions, foremost the ones that grow in the hard packed soil along our streets. They are also exposed to damaging insects and fungal diseases both local and new ones spreading from South Europe. The global warming with warmer temperatures provides a longer growing season, making it easier for insects and fungus to establish a habitat. Based on these facts new tree species need to be available for future urban plantings.To determine what these trees would be an interview study began. Six people were selected who have experience in the field of urban environment planting.

In the 19th century, photography was often employed in attempts to objectively capture evidence of paranormal phenomena. With the advent of television, this tradition came to be coupled with the apparent mystery of distant communication through electromagnetic waves. The television set has often been depicted as intrinsically occult or even haunted.It is therefore natural that television has proven to be an ideal medium to present beliefs, tales, and investigations about paranormal phenomena. Most such presentations have been openly ficticious, but in television the distinction between fact and fiction is often blurred, and the emergence of shows where the crew claims to pursue a serious investigation was inevitable. One of the most successful such shows is the British Most Haunted, airing since 2001.

Att genomföra ett penetrationstest av en nätverksarkitektur är komplicerat, riskfyllt och omfattande. Denna rapport utforskar hur en konsult bäst genomför ett internt penetrationstest tidseffektivt, utan att utelämna viktiga delar. I ett internt penetrationstest får konsulten ofta ta del av systemdokumentation för att skaffa sig en bild av nätverksarkitekturen, på så sätt elimineras den tid det tar att kartlägga hela nätverket manuellt. Detta medför även att eventuella anomalier i systemdokumentationen kan identifieras. Kommunikation med driftansvariga under testets gång minskar risken för missförstånd och systemkrascher.

Under tio veckor har jag arbetat med skapandet av kollektionen Blandband. Utgångspunkten var ränder och lura ögat. Jag ville undersöka vad som utgör en rand och hur en tredimensionell rand ser ut. Redan i början av arbetet satte jag en färgskala bestående av dels kulörta, starka färger och dels två nyanser av grått samt svart och vitt. Jag angrep arbetet med hjälp av en designmetod bestående av fem faser: Målsättning och research, Idéutveckling, Konceptutveckling, Realisering, Presentation och kommunikation.

Webbaserade informationssystem är idag en vanlig metod för företag att effektivisera sin verksamhet. Genom att använda sig av webbapplikationer så som web-services, kan resurser och data enkelt delas inom företaget på lokal och även global nivå över internet, genom att dessa resurser och data hämtas via web-servicen från centrala databaser. Examensarbetet utfördes hos Syntronic Software Innovations (SSI) i Gävle och det är utifrån deras specifikationer och krav som systemet har utvecklats. Denna uppsats redogör för hur ett sådant webbsystem kan utvecklas, samt vilka tekniker och verktyg som finns tillgängliga idag lämpar sig bäst för ändamålet. För att kunna svara på dessa frågor kommer forskningsmetoden design science att användas.

Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka attityder till könsneutralt språk, med fokus på könsneutrala pronomen som ?hen? och yrkestitlar.- Vilka attityder har studenter på socionomprogrammet till könsneutralt språk?- Hur medvetna är studenter på socionomprogrammet om relationen mellan språket och könsmaktsordningen?Datainsamlingsmetoden har varit fokusgrupper, där deltagarna läst igenom ett stimulusmaterial i form av två versioner av samma text, dels i original och dels med ett könsneutralt språk. Detta har analyserats dels efter en dekonstruktion i tre komponenter av attitydbegreppet, samt med en diskursteoretisk ansats som utgår från antagandet att det existerar en könsmaktsordning i samhället idag och att denna är en diskursiv ordning som informanterna förhåller sig till i talet om och kring kön och språk. I resultatet framkommer att det finns en positiv inställning till ett könsneutralt språk, men också att det finns en vaksamhet för hur det kommer att påverka nyanserna i det språk vi har dag, samt hur man ska förhålla sig till människor då det blir svårare att i förväg ta reda på könet hos en person. Här finns också exempel på hur informanterna lägger makten över könsmaktsordningen, och språket, utanför sig själva.

Feminist initiative ? an idea analysis.On the fourth of April in the year 2005 Feministic initiative (Fi) was created, it was an main response to the slow changes in the Swedish society, which claimed to establish an equal society. Equality has become one of the major indicators of a contemporary democratic society. The Swedish government has long proclaimed to reach this goal, but even though Sweden currently lies in the front among the democratic societies, while you consider equality issues, especially between the sexes, there is still a lot that need to be done in the Swedish society. Feministic initiative began as an organization and established a political party and participated in the election during the year 2006, but failed to reach a place in the parliament.

During a major part of modernity the concept of identity was something that in many ways was predetermined for the individual. People in general remained in the same social spheres as the generations before, shared common religions and beliefs and where more or less bound to a geographic area. Identity and lifestyle was something that was adapted quite unreflected from habit and tradition. Though, during the cultural modernisation process that took place in the twentieth century, previous shared patterns of interpretation vanished and became individual.  Finding references, constructing an identity and establishing a self became individual.

This essay examines if formative assessment causes any impact on upper secondary school students results in social science. Other questions asked are which group of students benefits most from formative assessment and if any connections can be found between the students result and their cognitive approach to learning, problem solving capability and attitude to school.Two classes from a school in Stockholm were chosen to participate in the study. The theoretical framework is mostly based on former research performed by Black and William (1998, 2003). Multiple methods were used, including an experiment with a parallel-group design with two groups, a survey and a problem solving test. Statistics is used to describe and analyze collected data.Both groups were taught during five lessons in the same field of knowledge with the same kind of teaching, apart from formative assessment.

Prey species make behavioral decisions to reduce the perceived risk of predation and the time spent vulnerable to predation. Behavioral responses to predators are for example selection of specific habitat types and the presence of predators influence individual vigilance. Furthermore, there is a variation in feeding niches with different herbivores focusing their foraging effort on different vegetation types which is also expected to affect the choice of habitat. Behavioral data on anti-predation and foraging behavior at on waterhole is collected from Thomson?s and Grant?s gazelles at Ol Pejeta Conservancy (0°00?N, 36°56?E) located in semiarid bushed grassland in Laikipia district of central Kenya.

The Societety Park (Societetsparken) of Varberg here in Sweden, established in the year 1883 (1856), is one of the most famous parks in Varberg. Today it is, more or less, only used as a park that you will walk through in the wintertime, under the summer season though, the park starts blooming and then it is used for public music and singalong evenings. Earlier it was an old health resort park with its fine old traditions.The Societetsparken was a private owned park until 1902 when the town purchased it. On this plot there was already a smaller park and it was established as early as in 1856. It was called Badhusparken (The Public Bath Park) and it belonged to the hot- and cold-bathhouses, and these baths were very well frequented.

Plant survival, plant damage and height growth were studied in nine wild cherry (Prunus avium L.) plantations in southern Sweden established between 2000 and 2002. All stands were located to the county of Småland. The survey was conducted during May and June in 2007. During the survey the height, diameter and quality of the cherry trees were recorded. In one stand, red ? berried Elder (Sambucus racemosa L.) was a dominant species.

Road design with focus to safety has been extensively developed in last decades in Nordic and some other EU countries with the main aim to achieve a decrease in a number of accidents and fatalities on the roads. These countries gained many valuable experiences, but they had to sacrifice great effort, expenses, and time to reach the present art-of-state. The purpose of the Master?s Thesis is to review some design approaches with focus to safety and discuss the general way that they may be applied. The Master?s Thesis studies safety in three levels: (i) general - design standards, national safety policies and road hierarchy; (ii) local authority and road administrator; and (iii) three specific safety countermeasures - junctions, pedestrian crossings and traffic calming.

Metoden som använts för textselektion utgår från Mieke Bals koncept som Bal förklarar som ett alternativ till metod i sin bok Travelling Concepts. Uppsatsen tar teoretiskt spjärn mot Ludwig Wittgensteins begrepp språkspel och duckrabbit, (aspektväxling) som de beskrivits i Filosofiska undersökningar, publicerad 1953, samt gestalten som bildar figur-grund, en inom gestaltpsykologin utvecklad perceptionsteori.Uppsatsen visar på att mening har skapats av verket genom att det framträder, det förvandlar sig till en händelse, något som Rudolf Arnheim beskriver som An event in space, i sin bok Art and Visual Perception ? A Psychology of the Creative Eye från 1954.
