This literature review summarizes available data on infection with the parasitic roundworm, Ascaridia galli, as a cause of disease in poultry, including the consequences of a conversion to alternative production systems. Ascaridia galli has a direct life cycle with resistant eggs that survive and are easily spread in the environment, especially in systems with bedding materials where the faecal contact is high. The infection is usually subclinical but depending on the infection dose, the symptoms range from weight loss and diarrhea to mortality. Factors such as the feed composition and genetic variation among different hybrids clearly affect the establishment rate of the infection. Ascaridia galli will probably become an increasing problem, with a shift from the traditional battery cages to alternative systems where the risk of re-infection is high.

We have done a qualitative and quantitative study about math problems on second­ary school students. The study is based on the diagnosis, treatment and training of teachers, about students who have math difficulties. The aim of this work is to obtain teachers ?perceptions about students? diagnosis, treatment / improvement and continuing education for students who have math difficulties. By having interviewed various teachers through surveys we have received answers to their concerns about the diagnosis, treatment and the importance of continuous training of teachers on students? mathematics difficulties.

The competition for the beach promenade in Helsingborg was announced in 2001 and was arranged by the city of Helsingborg. My contribution to the competition represents the main part of my thesis in the Landscape Architecture Programme. The competition entry is based on the concept of crossing screens of vertical elements which connect the pattern and structure of the city to the beach and the water. The different materials and designs of the screens relate to the various characters of the different parts of the area and they form a sequence and uniting theme along the beach. In addition to the competition entry which was made in 2001, the thesis contains a second part, made in the spring of 2006. It consists of an Introduction with the competition programme and a description of the starting points, a part called Method where the process is described, and the Conclusion with reflections on the competition entry and the process where I also introduce and comment on some other projects which in different ways have are connected to my concept. .

The purpose of this study is to examine how different religious traditions are portrayed in teaching materials based on news reports. The main question concerns the way in which religious practices and holidays are described and in which contexts religion is presented. The method includes a both quantitative and qualitative content analysis. The study concludes that certain religious practices are presented in a way that describes the practitioners as more faithful and homogenous than others. This was especially prominent among Muslims and to a certain extent Hindus.

Detta arbete har sin utgångspunkt i ökad återvinning och minskning av sopberg. Ett exempel som vi har använt oss av i vår forskning är ett samarbete mellan Röda Korset och Kriminalvården. Varje år slängs 25 % av de textilier som välgörenhetsorganisationer får in och dessa sopberg skulle man kunna minska genom ökad återvinning. Kriminalvården har registrerat ett varumärke som heter Made in Jail, vilka tillverkar köksrelaterade produkter. Syftet med det här arbetet blev därför att utveckla idéer till hantverksprodukter som slukar mycket spill.Valet av metod blev kvalitativa intervjuer, som utfördes med tre personer med olika kopplingar till arbetet.

Detta examensarbete beskriver undersökningen av kärnmaterial i en sandwichpanel under belastning. Arbetet har utförts tillsammans med CCG i Laholm, Sverige. Kärnmaterialen lämpar sig vid design av sandwichpaneler på grund av sin låga vikt och sin förmåga att klara av högt tryck. Då materialet uppvisar ett ickelinjärt beteende skapar det problem vid design av sandwichpaneler och leder till att materialsammansättningarna tillverkas konservativa mot verkligheten. Projektet har gått ut på reducera designprocessen genom att bygga upp och simulera materialmodeller i programvaran ABAQUS för att kunna analysera och förutse materialets beteende.

The aim of this study is to investigate how preschool teachers reason about gender stereotypical and gender neutral toys and other material. I would also like to see how the pedagogues reason about gender segregation when it comes to toys. To investigate the issue, I have interviewed three pedagogues from different preschools. The results showed that the work procedures differed a bit from school to school, although they all wanted to achieve the same goal. A goal that our curriculum mention as well: Not to make a difference between boys and girls.

I examensarbetet undersöks de två företeelserna orienterbarhet och rörelse i stadsplaneringssammanhang. Genom att koppla ihop teori och praktik ges en ökad kunskap om hur orienterbarhet och rörelse fungerar.Först sker en teoretisk litteraturstudie av vad några stadsanalyser påstår och påvisar gällande orienterbarhet och rörelse. I studien ingår författarna Kevin Lynch, Inger Bergström, Bill Hillier, Gordon Cullen och Jan Gehl. Både orienterbarhet och rörelse som är tätt sammankopplade, påverkas till stor del av omgivningen. I litteraturstudien ges exempel på analysmetoder som kan användas för att undersöka orienterbarhet och rörelse på en plats/stad.De studerade teorierna och analyserna appliceras på den planerade stads-delen, Västra Centrum i Varberg, som är fallstudieobjekt i examensarbetet.

Illustration is a tool for storytelling, for contributingto the world in the most legible way.Illustration is legibility, it is the italic, the underline, the ?quotation mark?, the exclamation mark!It is not about the pretty picture.I want to talk about this.

To save energy it?s popular to build houses with low energy loss. In these houses the walls are keeping a lower temperature in the external side which leads to a higher relative humidity. In addition more material, such as wood studs, are used which means that there is more moisture to dry. More moisture in combination with higher relative humidity may pose a higher risk of microbial growth.

I takt med att vi förbrukar samhällets resurser så ökar intresset för att ersätta oljebaserade material med likvärdiga baserade på cellulosa. Det forskas mycket kring nya cellulosabaserade material och dess egenskaper, och det presenteras även nya material som är mer eller mindre färdiga för produktion. Vid en produkts utveckling och framställning finns det ett stort antal olika material tillhands att välja ibland. De traditionella och etablerade materialen är väl undersökta och deras egen skaper är välkända och väl dokumenterade, men så är inte alltid fallet med nya material som kommer fram från forskningen. En uppfattning är att det kan vara svårt att få ett material att gå från att vara ett intressant, nytt material till att det faktiskt hittar sin väg in till en produktion eller till att ingå i en produkt.Syftet med arbetet är att det ska vara till hjälp för de personer som är involverade i ett materials framtagande i förståelsen av om vad intressenter efterfrågar från ett nytt material.

A few hundred metres from the beach on Fårö, Gotland, is a small lot with pine trees, green moss and wild fl owers situated, owned by my brother and sister. Eventually they would like tobuild a summerhouse here, in close proximity to their relatives. My project is a proposal for the summerhouse at the site, within the restrictions of 61 m² building area, with focus on interior,exterior and the environment.My proposal is a house close to the surrounding nature, with reference to the the building tratition on the island and with local materials. Orientation to the sun, road and neighbours hasall infl uenced my ideas of this house and the relation between inside and outdoor living, were important in my creative work. The aim was to create a house made for the family and theirholiday lifestyle and allowed consideration for the possibility of a growing family with more children.

The content of teaching materials considerably affects pupils? attitudes and worldview. This paper is an analysis of textbooks used in 7th through 9th grade of the Swedish School system in Swedish as a Second Language (SSL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The purpose of this paper is to look at which minority groups, the five official national minorities as well as other minorities, are included and portrayed in the textbook series Tre gånger svenska and Wings Mini as well as to see if there is any bias in their portrayal. The seven types of bias investigated; invisibility, stereotyping and generalizations, unreality, imbalance and selectivity, fragmentation and isolation, linguistic bias and cosmetic bias are an adaption of the framework to detect bias in curriculum materials presented by Sadker and Zittleman (2002/2003).

Den obeslutsamhet som finns kring val av framtida yrke och utbildning är ett väldigt intressant område, då alla människor står inför de valen någon gång i livet. Det kan finnas en rad olika faktorer som påverkar utbildnings- och yrkesval. Syftet med denna undersökning är att öka förståelsen kring ungdomars tankar angående framtida utbildnings- och yrkesval. Vi avser att undersöka de faktorer som främst påverkar ungdomar inför deras utbildnings- och yrkesval och hur de planerar att ta sig dit. Genom att göra en kvalitativ undersökning fick vi en djupare förståelse för hur elever som läser sista året på samhällsvetenskapliga programmet tänker kring sina utbildnings- och yrkesval.

The intention of this essay is to put the light on and to discuss if there is a connection between a pre-Christian creation mythology and naked rocks on prehistoric sacred places in Scandinavia. Archaeological as well as historical materials are studied. The historical material is mostly from Snorre Sturlasons Asasagan with the explanation of the creation of the world. In this story the world was built from the body of a killed and deposited giant named Ymer. Almost the same myth is told in all Indo-European countries.
