This is an empirical study mapping out different citation practices to games in the fieldof game studies. From an analysis of 7 journals, 3 conferences and 22 canonical bookswithin game studies, 5 different strategies for game referencing have been identified.Games scholars can either totally refrain from referring to the games they discuss, onlyreference some specific games, cite them as something special and deviant from othersources, refer to them in accordance with other sources or refer to games with regard totheir unique properties as a reference. For the reference librarian working with issuesrelating to game studies the diverse reference practices among game scholars pose aspecific challenge. A challenge that partly can be overcome by knowing how gamescholars frame games and how these frameworks are in conflict with the ways librariansframe and classify sources due their physical properties..

This masters thesis looks at the reception of the beat generation in six given American magazines spanning through the years 1957-1961. The study is basically one of literaty reception. The aim is to see how and if the institution of literature handed the beat generation an identity to go along with their arts. With the use of discourse analysis we have pointed out certain characteristics in the six articles that have been a part of building up an image of the beat generation as a whole. By dividing the result into the two categories social and literary practice we can clearer see what significants were used to create the beat generation.

Syftet med vår studie är att ta reda på hur sju lärare i år 3-6 arbetar för att väcka elevers läsintresse och hur de behåller elevernas läslust. För att få svar på detta har vi valt följande frågeställningar:-Hur går lärarna tillväga för att få eleverna intresserade av att läsa skönlitteratur?-Vad vill lärarna uppnå genom att arbeta med skönlitteratur i klassen?-Hur har de intervjuade lärarnas arbetssätt förändrats för att väcka elevers läsintresse under deras verksamma tid som lärare?För att få svar på våra frågeställningar gjorde vi en intervjustudie med sju lärare som har någon anknytning till skönlitteratur.I resultatet av undersökningen kommer vi att belysa lärarnas åsikter om skönlitteraturens roll i undervisningen. Vi lyfter fram bibliotekets förändrade och mer betydande roll i samband med litteraturundervisningen. In this master thesis I investigate different views on literary quality in two quite different library journals; Biblioteksbladet and Bibliotek i Samhälle. One aim of the study is to see whether the ambiguity of the term literary quality is considered. Since there is no universally accepted definition of literary quality to be found the analysis is inspired by discourse analysis. This theoretical frame work starts off in the assumption that our views of the world are much dependent the way we describe it. The work of Finnish scholar Sanna Talja is presented and the results of this thesis are compared with the three perspectives on music culture that are presented in her book.

I have done a comparative gender study of Library of Congress Classification from 1900 and 2001. I have also used a hermeneutic method and ideological critics to find out what picture of women the both systems shows. In my comparative study of the both systems I have found low update of classes which relates to women in the new classification system. Men seem to be a norm in the system, because men are not defined in classes related to both men and women. But many classes related to women are named Women as and Women in The study also shows that women are more related to subjects about family and marriage than men are.

Java och C# är två objektorienterade programmeringsspråk med många gemensamma egenskaper, dock har dessa egenskaper syntaxmässiga skillnader. En tidigare undersökning har visat att mindre än 5 % av källkoden behöver ändras för att konvertera ett fungerande Java-program till ett likadant fungerande C#-program. Frågeställningar baserade på denna upptäckt togs fram och besvarades genom att jämföra två identiska program skrivna i Java och C#, skillnader och likheter mellan programmens källkod pekas ut och sammanställs kvantitativt. Skillnader består av bl.a. språkens nyckelord, klasser och metoder som motsvarar varandra i språkens bibliotek har olika namn och beteenden samt att finesser som finns i ena språket återfinns inte i det andra.

I denna uppsats har vi valt att analysera hur olika karaktärer framställs utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Böckerna vi har valt att analysera är tre av Tove Janssons berättelser om Mumintrollet och hans vänner som utgavs för första gången 1948, 1954 och 1970, trots detta säljs de fortfarande i stor utsträckning och utlånas frekvent på bibliotek. Genom kvalitativ textanalys har vi undersökt återkommande beteendemönster och personbeskrivningar för att få reda på hur kvinnliga respektive manliga karaktärer beskrivs med hjälp av både inre egenskaper och yttre attribut. Resultatet visar att omsorg om andra, utseendefixering och känslomässigt engagemang är något som tillskrivs de kvinnliga karaktärerna medan de manliga karaktärerna ägnar sig åt sig själva, är eller vill vara modiga. Denna uppsats behandlar fyra svenska böcker för barn i åldrarna 8 ? 14 år som varit mest utlånade på Halmstad bibliotek under 2008. Titlarna som analyserats är Fixa pengar annars?! av Lena Lilleste, Det brinner! av Laura Trenter, Den danske rånaren av Petter Lidbeck samt Den trettonde gästen av Martin Widmark. Syftet med uppsatsen var att se hur killar och tjejer, samt män och kvinnor, framställs i litteraturen.

The aim of this essay has been to find out if children can identify themselves in childrens literature describing children who have immigrated. We wanted to investigate if the interest in reading books about children who have immigrated was the same whether the investigated childrens origin was Swedish or not. We chose two books for this purpose. We also wanted to see what the access to books about children who have immigrated was at three libraries. The locations for the libraries were; in the investigated children´s school, at the main library in the municipality and at a smaller library also located in the municipality.

Many new electronic publication systems have arisen in the past few years, one of them is the weblog. In 1999 there were 23 weblogs, today there are millions thus a need for organisation has appeared, both special metadata and subject indexes have been invented and created. Due to the large amount of the latter we have in this thesis decided to concentrate on those close by the Scandinavian weblogindexes. A more international perspective would however have been possible, as very little is written on the topic. We have looked at these selected weblogindexes, trying to determinate whether they agree with F.

This is a thesis about 9-12-year old girls and their leisure reading. The purpose of this study is to examine their reading experiences. The method we use is a combination of qualitative interviews and studies of literature. The thesis shows that there seem to be four basic needs in girls that can be satisfied by leisure reading; the need to develop language skills; the need to be entertained; the need to gain knowledge of the world and the need to get help to resolve personal issues. The interviews with nine girls show that they primarily read for fun and that the knowledge and insights that are conveyed in literature come in second place.

In this diploma work we present the results from a study of how adult immigrants utilise the services provided by the public library in Biskopsgården, Gothenburg. A survey encompassing 51 library visitors of foreign origin and an interview with two librarians at the library were performed.The results from the survey show that the majority of the informants were male students inages from 26 to 45 years and that they had been living in Sweden for a maximum of five years. 73% of the informants used the library to borrow literature in Swedish, 53% to read newspapers and periodicals in their native language, 43% to borrow literature in their native language and 43% to read newspapers and periodicals in Swedish.These results were compared with two other related studies with which partial correspondencewas found. The aim of this Master Thesis is to examine how the national intranet at Nordea serves the organisation as a channel of information and communication. The intranets of today, have partially or completely come to replace other channels of information within larger organisations, and the intranet has become an increasingly important issue to the communicational process of organisations. To address the problem stated, qualitative interviews was accomplished with several employees at a department at Nordea. The achieved result reflects how the intranet supports variable everyday end-user situations. The result shows an intranet that is sparsely used in comparison to other channels of communication such as colleagues.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the local debate on the Music library in Västervik to see what arguments, pro et contra, that constitutes it. Since its opening the Music library has faced regular threats of being closed down. This is an issue interesting due to several factors, its lack of guaranteed public funding and relative importance to Västervik´s attempts at city branding being two. Using argument analysis, the thesis proposes that the local debate shows traces of both instrumental and culture centered, intrinsical views of the Music library, and that the instrumental view holds both negative and positive poles of opinion while the intrinsical counterpart is one-sidedly positive. Further, the thesis argues that this is in line with a long since documented shift in cultural politics towards a more market oriented discourse..

We have produced a process mapping and from there developed a document management plan for the research service at the Labour Movement Archives and Library (ARAB) in Stockholm, Sweden. The project was conducted during five weeks in the spring of 2011 at ARAB and the resulting classification structure and document plan has been formulated and presented to the staff at a seminar. We found that the institution in some cases were suffering from an inadequate documentation in a number of the identified processes, and also in their records management and archiving. In this additional memorandum follows an analyzing discussion of activity-based document- and archive management, e-archives and process mapping. We have accordingly tried to standardize the process of research services and contribute to a more adequate document management within the institution.
