The purpose of this study is to examine senior high school students? strategies and reasoning when solving mathematical problems and make a review of the concept problem solving. The purpose is also to examine if the students? choice of strategies are influenced when their mathematical knowledge is improved.The study was conducted in two science classes at a senior high school. All the students were asked to individually solve two mathematical problems.

The PhonePages of Sweden is a company that develops software for mobile units, especially cell phones. This thesis treats the development of, and contingencies for, a mobile phone directory, using the limited resources found in a mobile unit. The project was implemented and executed at The PhonePages with the intention of creating a product to sell to a third party.By studying different solutions, their benefits and drawbacks, an abstract picture of the product was constructed. Problems covered include compatibility problems caused by todays platform diversity as well as problems with saving, organizing and presenting data.The main goal was to create a phone directory which does not make external information retrievals. The service should contain both company and personal information, with name and phonenumber.

This thesis has treated a three-axis robot which task is to serve a larger test machine tomove the modules to be tested, from the storage to the test site. The robot is composed ofthree linear actuators; two standard components of ball screw type and a custom-builtactuator of trapezoidal type. The work has mainly focused on the custom-built device to seeif it could be replaced with a standard component. Part of the work has been to look into thepicking tool and to see if there are any possibilities to improve its function.The report presents two different proposals which I decided to call Robot 1 and Robot 2 andthey aim to address the problems arising in the purpose-built linear unit and the X-axislinearity problems. A recent development in the field of accounting has been an increasing use of fair values in financial reporting. In 2005, this development was reinforced in Sweden by the adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards. The aim of this thesis is to discuss the problems related to the use of fair values, through a case study of the Swedish investment bank Carnegie. In May 2007, Carnegie announced that the result had been overly stated by 630 MSEK, due to the valuation of derivatives within the trading department. The empirical material consists of documents produced in the legal process between Carnegie and the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.

Syfte:Uppsatsens syfte är att testa den svaga formen av marknadseffektivitet på ett antal aktiemarknader genom teknisk analys i form av system med glidande medelvärden. Teoretisk referensram:Den teoretiska referensramen utgår ifrån den effektiva marknadshypotesen men omfattar även behavioral finance och teknisk analys. Metod:Uppsatsen är av förklarande karaktär med ett positivistiskt synsätt och ett deduktivt angreppssätt. Testen av marknadseffektivitetens svaga form sker genom en kvantitativ undersökning av sekundärdata. I undersökningen genomförs en hypotesprövning där en passiv investeringsstrategi jämförs mot aktiva investeringsstrategier byggda på system med glidande medelvärden. Undersökningen omfattar åren 2002-2009 och sker på tio väletablerade aktieindex, i Norden samt på tillväxtmarknader och på etablerade marknader, vilket ger cirka 17 500 observationer. Empiri:Hypotesprövningen visar att system med glidande medelvärden har kunnat skapa riskjusterad överavkastning samt kunnat förutse framtida kursrörelser på aktiemarknaderna i Danmark, Norge, Sverige och Hong Kong. På aktiemarknaderna i Finland, Brasilien, Indien, Japan, Tyskland och USA har systemen som testats inte kunnat skapa riskjusterad överavkastning och/eller inte kunnat förutse framtida kursrörelser. Analys:Det finns flera faktorer som påverkat resultaten i olika grad vilket gör att endast indikationer om grad av effektivitet på de olika marknaderna ges i slutsatsen. Slutsatser:På aktiemarknaderna i Danmark, Norge, Sverige och Hong Kong ges indikationer om att kraven för svag marknadseffektivitet inte uppnåtts.

ABSTRACTA Qualitative Discursive Analysis of Eight Contemporary Geography BooksTeacher Training with an Intercultural Profile 2006Author: Susanne LjunglöfTutor: Jan-Eric MattsonThe aim of this paper is to describe which discourses concerning the different continents problems, future and development that I can find in the descriptions of the continents in a number of contemporary geography books.The aim has been divided in four questions:- Which aspects of the continents problems are expressed in these geography books?- Which impressions concerning the continents development and future are expressed in these geography books?- Which conceptions about the population in the different continents are expressed in these geography books?- Which cultural reference creates these discourses?The method used for conducting this study is a text analytical method called general discourse analysis.My conclusions:- The different continents problems, development and future are described through entirely diverse discourses.- The reviewed geography books take their origin i a western perspective in their description of the different continents.- As a reader it is always important to be aware of the ethnocentric perspective that could be expressed.

Most of the stoma-operated persons must work themselves through difficult feelings. The task for the nurse is to deliver a care that promotes as much independence as possible. The aim of this literature review was to illuminate how the self-care agencies affect the well-being for the persons who are operated for stoma. A systematic literature study was done based on eleven scientific studies. Three categories, which describe how self-care agencies affect the physical, psychological and social well-being, are presented in the result.
