Omgivningens ökade krav på ansvarstagande och transparens leder till att företag i allt större utsträckning väljer att visa hur de arbetar med samhällsansvar och hållbarhet. Begreppet hållbar utveckling syftar till att bedriva en verksamhet som inte äventyrar kommande generationers behov, och kan sägas utgöra kärnan i arbetet och redovisningen av ansvarsfrågor. Att hållbarhetsredovisa innebär att företag, utöver den ekonomiska aspekten, även redogör för dess sociala och miljömässiga påverkan på samhället. Ett av de mest accepterade ramverken för detta är Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), vars grundsyfte är att redovisningen ska bidra till utvecklat hållbarhetsarbete.Syftet med studien fokuserar till hur GRI:s riktlinjer kan förbättra arbetet för en hållbar utveckling. Vi avser att undersöka fallföretaget Umeå Energis hållbarhetsarbete för att se vilka förutsättningar som finns för införandet av en trovärdig hållbarhetsredovisning.Uppsatsen genomfördes med fallstudien som forskningsstrategi och datainsamlingen bestod av ostrukturerade och semistrukturerade intervjuer med delar av Umeå Energis ledning.

Rapid development in the realms of electronic publishing has had a profound impact on information services in general and the academic library in particular. Since mid 1990´s an increasingly number of scholarly journals and other information resources have been made available electronically. Electronic books are the newest electronic service in the hybrid library and can be seen as the third wave in the digital library. Although electronic books have for a long time existed as electronic texts such as digitalized classics or other texts in the public domain, it is not until recently that e-books have been distributed and packaged in a commercial form. As more e-book models are being developed, libraries are being forced to take e-books into consideration when planning their information services.The aim of this master thesis is to describe the first stage of implementation of the new electronic media, the electronic book or e-book, in Swedish academic libraries.

SummaryIn the area to the east of Hue city, in Vietnam, lays Tam Giang lagoon, one of Asia's largest lagoons, with an area of 22,000 hectares. This lagoon is suitable for aquaculture. One reason for this is because the salinity differs from sweet to salty in different parts of the lagoon. The Vietnamese Government advocates an increase in environmentally-friendly aquaculture and the fish Siganus guttatus (Rabbit fish) is a candidate for this. This fish eats mainly algae and can be cultivated in a polyculture.

The district heating load is seasonally dependent, with a low load during periods of high ambient temperature. Thermal energy storage (TES) has the potential to shift heating loads from winter to summer, thus reducing cost and environmental impact of District Heat production. In this study, a concept of high temperature borehole thermal energy storage (HT-BTES) together with a pellet heating plant for temperature boost, is presented and evaluated by its technical limitations, its ability to supply heat, its function within the district heating system, as well as its environmental impact and economic viability in Gothenburg, Sweden, a city with access to high quantities of waste heat.The concept has proven potentially environmentally friendly and potentially profitable if its design is balanced to achieve a good enough supply temperature from the HT-BTES. The size of the heat storage, the distance between boreholes and low borehole thermal resistance are key parameters to achieve high temperature. Profitability increases if a location with lower temperature demand, as well as risk of future shortage of supply, can be met.

Since the Bruntlandreport was published 1987, companies have shown their environmental commitment through an environmental account. Companies started these accounts because their rivals started having them and today most large companies have a environmental account or sustainable development report. The information given by the companies have been seen as slanted, and others see it only as a part of the image production for the companies. There have been several investigations of the stakeholders of environmental reports and it is not clear who is the primary stakeholder, in other words who actually reads them. All different stakeholders have different views of what an environmental account should encompass.

Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur La Poterie kan utöka sin kundkrets och behålla de redan befintliga kunderna, detta genom att se till olika marknadsföringsverktyg. La Poterie är ett svenskt företag som importerar och säljer portugisisk handmålad keramik och inredningsdetaljer.Metod: Studien är uppbyggd på två olika kvantitativa enkätundersökningar, med potentiella och befintliga kunder till La Poterie. Vidare har kvalitativa intervjuer genomförts med ägarna till företaget. Denna information har vi bearbetat tillsammans med relevant teori och olika marknadsföringsverktyg.Resultat och Slutsats: Det resultat vi har kommit fram till efter studiens genomförande är att La Poteries befintliga kunder främst är kvinnor i åldern 31-40. De flesta bor utanför Gävle och handlar på La Poterie ungefär 0-2 gånger per år.

Websites today only offer simpler form of technical analysis and are not fun to use, therefore student decided to build a website that makes technical analysis a bit more fun by giving user possibility to experiment with settings for technical indicators and also see clear visible results from analysis. Student decided to build website in ASP.NET. Technical indicators for this project only consist of those who give buy and sell-signals via cross-over, no divergence or pattern finding.This project has three questions that define this project. It?s important that there is good functionality so that performing an analysis is perceived as simple, one question is therefore; what functionality for website is needed in order for analysis to be perceived as more simple?Technical analysis is a pretty complex subject and demands an interface that is perceived as easy to understand and easy to use, it?s therefore important that the interface is well designed, second question is therefore; how should the interface be designed to be user-friendly?When systems grow large they often become hard to develop and later on unmaintainable because of the accumulated complexity and dependency between classes, the code is a mess, the last question is therefore; how can the systems complexity be eased with object-oriented design principles?Jakob Nielsens ten heuristics for User Interface Design were used as inspiration for designing the interface for the website.

In November 2007 the countries around the Baltic Sea signed the Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP). The action plan was an initiative from HELCOM due to the environmental status in the Baltic Sea. The action plan implemented a new approach with measures targeting the whole ecosystem. Eutrophication, hazardous substances, biodiversity and maritime activities constituted the main segments. The parties were to establish national implementation plans to fulfil the BSAP goals, which shall lead to good environmental status in the Baltic Sea by 2021.  The aim of this thesis is to investigate the points in common regarding conceptions of eutrophication in the Baltic Sea between the management, the science, the media and the public.

In Örebro, the car traffic share does not tend to decrease. The crowdedness on some of the bus routes is high at times. Investigations show that the residents of Örebro want a city centre whose street environment is more restrictive of car traffic and better for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. To decrease the car traffic share a rapid, convenient, clear, effective and environmental friendly public transport with high frequency and strong capacity in a short, direct and logical network is needed. A modern tramway fulfils these criteria.At first, this report describes factors that are important to take into consideration when planning a tramway.

Global catch fishery is said to been oppressed to its limit (Boyd & Schmittou, 1999), further implying aquaculture might be the only solution to the world demand for fishery products. The applied term aquaculture in this paper refers to the one used by NOAA (2008); breeding, rearing, and harvesting of plants and animals in all kind of water environments, including but not limited to ponds, rivers, lakes, and the ocean. Bakgrund: Arbetet med hållbar utveckling har ökat väsentligt under det senaste decenniet och många begrepp har tagits fram för att beskriva detta arbete, exempelvis CSR och Triple Bottom Line. Begreppen syftar till att ta hänsyn till de tre delarna ekonomi, miljö och sociala frågor i ett företags verksamhet. Även riktlinjer har skapats för att kunna mäta detta arbete. Global Reporting Initiative, som bildades 1997, är en av de främsta och har under det senaste årtiondet blivit väl etablerat och ett internationellt erkänt ramverk. Även i Sverige redovisar många företag enligt riktlinjerna och år 2007 tog näringsdepartementet ett beslut som innebar att alla statliga bolag nu ska redovisa en hållbarhetsredovisning enligt GRI.Syfte: Syftet med vår uppsats är att jämföra statliga bolag med privata för att se skillnaden i hur de arbetar med hållbar utveckling.
