Few scientific studies have studied the subject of longevity among horses over a longer period of time. The knowledge about the Swedish riding school horse population concerning injuries and diseases is insufficient. Generally speaking, riding school horses in Sweden have a more undiversified way to work and work more hours in the arena compared to privately owned horses that have more variety in their possible use. Statistical data from the insurance company Agria have shown that horses in riding schools and education facilities have 22 % higher risk to use their veterinary insurance and 79 % higher risk to be put down and use their life insurance, compared to horses in private care. To create an increased understanding for longevity is it important to have knowledge about the different causes of culling. The aim with this study is to increase the knowledge and enable problem solving within the subject of longevity, median length of life and causes of death.

AbstractThis paper aims to examine reading comprehension among Swedish Upper Secondary Schoolstudents who are doing their last school year. My research questions are if the students havesufficient reading comprehension to cope with university studies and higher educationaccording to a comprehension test and if there is a difference between students who studiedSwedish B course or Swedish as a second language B course. Furthermore it involves issuesof differences in results depending on gender and if the second-language students were bornin Sweden or abroad.To get answers to my questions, I let 112 students in my survey carry out the readingcomprehension part of the TISUS test, observed several test sessions, and interviewed 24students who participated in the test. The result shows that most students have difficultieswith the reading comprehension, and probably would find it difficult to study at universitiesor colleges. There are major differences in the results between the Swedish B-students andSwedish as a second language students, but also within these groupings.

I uppsatsen behandlas omslagsbilderna till Bruce Springsteens Born In The U.S.A samt singelversionen av titelspåret utifrån teorier kring nationellt mytskapande, genus och skivomslagskonst.I uppsatsen undersöks hur och i vilket syfte en artist etablerar en image samt hur denna image kan tolkas i flera olika kontexter. Här visas genom semiotisk bildanalys på hur omslagsbilderna driver en aktiv kritisk retorik mot ett politiskt system. Vidare visas på populärkulturens möjligheter att med mytologiserad symbolik och bildspråk aktivt opponera sig mot vedertagna konventioner och sociopolitisk verklighet.Den mytologiska retorikens inneboende tvetydighet och förfogandet däröver lyfts fram, liksom hur en artist genom skivomslagsbilden kan formulera sin identitet för att aktualisera och utmana sociala och politiska konventioner och trender..

In contemporary Sweden political participation among foreign-born Swedes is viewed as low and it is well known that foreign-born individuals do not use their voting rights to the same extent as the general population. At the same time there are numerous ethnic associations around the country who work with various activities involving political, democratic and integration issues. This study aims to study how four members of a Somali association regard, relate to and work with politics, democracy and integration. The study is based on these four people, but also on their relationship with authorities and other agencies in the community. The conclusion of this study shows in brief that the desire to participate politically is great, but that democracy and politics is accessible to all, depending on the level of language skills and what political knowledge the individual has.

Based on different integration policies, we aim to examine how five municipalities in Stockholm County are working to promote integration at a local level with focus on voter participation and to some extent, representativeness among foreign-born. Statistics provided by SCB shows that foreign-born tends to vote to a lesser extent than those born in Sweden. Further, we aim to examine the implementation of two policy documents established at a national level concerning integration in contrast to policy documents established at a local level in each different municipality. Further, we aim to examine summaries of actions taken in response to the local integration programs, as well as personal interviews. Each municipality will be considered separately, but we thus seek to make a comparative study.

ABSTRACTStatistics show that breastfeeding prevalence for Sweden has fallen since the mid 90´s. Studies show that breastfeeding offers health benefits to both mother and child and that the mothers' belief and confidence in their ability to breastfeed is a key factor to having a positive breastfeeding outcome. In 2010, Amningshjälpen in collaboration with Sensus studieförbund, started a nursing course, for mothers-to-be, who wished to breastfeed their babies and its aim was to prepare them for a successful and enjoyable experience.Objective: To examine whether a preparatory breastfeeding course can affect mothers' confidence in their ability to breastfeed and if that ability can affect the breastfeeding outcome when the child reaches four months. A further aim is to investigate the experience of  perceived problems surrounding breastfeeding and what affect these might have on the mothers' confidence in breastfeeding when the child reaches four months.Design/Methods: A quantitative approach with prospective experimental design was used to evaluate the study. The questionnaire Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale Short Form (BSES-SF) was used three times to measure women's trust in lactation.

In today?s Europe, migration has become a security issue rather than a humanitarian issue. Previous research highlights how migrants have become prisoners of bureaucracy in Europe by their mobility being hindered. The present study critically analyses the migration governance in Europe by highlighting labour market integration in Sweden. The study highlights migrants with a specific focus on foreign-born women. The research questions chosen to examine this phenomenon is: How does migration governance in Europe affect member states' policies for labour market integration, with a particular focus on Sweden? How do foreign-born women in Sweden experience labour market integration processes within the framework of the governance mechanisms that exist in Europe? Foucault?s theory of power and the theoretical concept of choking composes a theoretical framework which is used to analyse focus group data and text analysis data.

No summary of feeding recommendations for foals exists today, which is why this subject was chosen for a literature study. The aim of this study was to describe nutrient requirements of healthy full term foals and how the feeding should be designed to raise foals if they lose their mother. Mare milk composition changes during lactation to meet the requirements of the suckling foal. Foals are born with enzymes in their small intestine and the concentrations of these follow the consumption patterns of the foal. Microbes colonizes the gut as the foal becomes older and these changes cause foal diarrhea.

The Swedish old-age care will in the near future face an extensive need to recruit enrolled nurses by virtues of the demographical development. The generation born in the 1940s will soon retire, and at the same time the rest of the population is growing older. One thing that becomes more important in how to draw more people to the old-age care, is to understand how the ones who allready work there experience their own worksituation.The purpose of this study was to find out how enrolled nurses from two different generations experienced their own occupational role and make similarities and differences between the two generations experiences visible. The topics of interest in our study are the respondents own thoughts about their education, their worksituation today, what they think of the future and how they believe others regard their work. To fulfill the purpose of our study we used qualitative interviews.

Swedish films are often based on the genres romance and comedy. The films dealing with relations and comedy can almost be seen as a genre of its own. The composition of the complex relation between the audience and the genre is the primary research focus of this thesis. With the teoretical ground in intertextuality, sociology and romances the thesis examines three relations in three different films. The films english titles are, Adam & Eva, Making Babies, and Double Shift.

Lots of choices are to be made by a company who enters a new market with a new businessidea. Common questions that show up when a company is making it´s businessplan are how to target the market and how to use marketing as a tool to reach a specific customer or segment. It is difficult to know wether to target the market in different ways and what processes that can be used in the choice how to select the most potential and profitable customer. Another important question is how a company can positioning themself in a way so the customer will get a positive understanding of the company and what different positive abilities to mention in a possible businessproposal. This study is made on a small company in Sweden called AYEN Technology.

I inledningen förklarar vi vårt intresse för svenska företag som har framgång utomlands, och hur vi utgick ifrån detta, våra personliga perspektiv och ett intresse för så kallade born globals då vi valde fokus för uppsatsen. Vi avgränsade oss till att undersöka entreprenöriella uppsalabaserade programvaruföretag med utländska kunder, vilka kan sägas vara bra representanter för born global kategorin. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur dessa kommer i kontakt med sina internationella kunder.Teoriavsnittet inleds med en orientering av traditionell internationaliseringsteori och varför denna inte är applicerbar på born globals, varpå en definition av detta begrepp följer. Därefter presenteras en modell för att förklara uppkomsten av born globals, där vikten av intern kunskap framhävs. Vad avser specifikt hur själva kontakten med kunderna uppstår, är ett område där vi inte funnit några förklaringar i teorin.Vi har ur en företagsdatabas sorterat ut de företag som stämmer in på våra kriterier för studien.

Den svenska modeindustrin spås en ljus framtid och har trots 2000-taletslågkonjunktur nått nya exportrekord. Den tuffa inhemska konkurrensen har gjort attetablering på utländska marknader blivit avgörande för de svenska modeföretagen.Det finns dock endast begränsad kunskap om internationaliseringsprocessen för dennabransch.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka vilka metoder som används av små ochmedelstora svenska modeföretag vid internationalisering och de bakomliggandeorsakerna till dessa metoder.Studien baseras på en kvalitativ undersökning av fem svenska modeföretag som sedananalyserats med ett teoretiskt ramverk av internationaliseringsprocesser.Resultatet visar att det inte finns en applicerbar modell för branschensinternationalisering. De studerade företagen har alla inlett internationaliseringen medetableringar på enstaka närliggande, lågriskmarknader. Företagen har därefter ändratriktning i sin internationaliseringsprocess då marknader längre bort penetrerats. Vidvalet av dessa marknader har tidigare erhållen intern kunskap och nätverk, varitavgörande.
