This study critically reviews four works of the artist Joanna Rytel with the intention to find out if and how she is provocative. In order to do that I have studied the reactions on these works, mainly through press material, which differs from letters to the editors and comments posted on discussion forums that's also been used. My conclusion is that Rytel provokes not just because of her choice of subject, but because of her concept of 'art' doesn't agree with the general public's, i.e. 'art' is supposed to be something merely beautiful. The journalists sometimes seems provoked by Rytel's ability to draw attention and have claimed that to be her main aim..

Uppsatsen undersöker med konstformen ljudkonst och den konstnärliga hanteringen av ljud i fokus en interaktion mellan finkultur och populärkultur. Fokus ligger på aktörer inom populärkulturen som använt sig av konstnärliga strategier med rötter i finkulturen. Undersökningen spårar ljudkonstens historiska bakgrund och främst de förlopp som bidragit till att det är en gränsöverskridande konstform. Den populärkulturella konstvärldens etablering som en social organisation där konstnärlig verksamhet är möjlig undersöks..

Arbetets syfte har varit att undersöka etableringen av konstnärsduon Elmgreen & Dragset och hur de med konstverket The Award (2014) utmanat den sociala hierarkin i det konstnärliga fältet. Genom Erwin Panofskys analysmodell i ikonologi har arbetet undersökt hur konstverket innefattar en kritisk handling. Metoden har varit att med ett konstsociologiskt perspektiv undersöka vilken typ av position konstnärsduon etablerat sig i det konstnärliga fältet samt hur de utmanat en överordnad position i samma fält. Metoden har även varit att undersöka hur den kritiska handlingen kan förstås som ett sätt att upprätthålla en Avantgarde-position. Arbetet visade hur Elmgreen & Dragset etablerat en paradoxal Avantgarde-position.

Tolkningsmetod har varit hermeneutisk med en kvalitativ ansats.  Det har genomförts tre intervjuer med tjänstemän och frivilliga inom Röda Korset: En som arbetar på ett lokalkontor med övergripande frågor, en tjänsteman på storstadskontoret, ansvar för region syd och hälsa och social trygghet samt en frivillig som arbetar med besöksverksamheten. Studiens analys och resultat tolkning har utgått från Erik Blennbergers teori om hur frivilliga organisationer arbetar i förhållande till ett kompletterande, ersättande, alternativt eller ett avantgardistiskt sett. Resultatet visade på en mångfald av inriktningar och hur ett frivilligt socialt arbete kan te sig i förhållande till staten då Röda Korsets främsta tanke är att vara ett komplement till det kommunala arbetet. I flera fall finns det gränsöverskridande projekt där både samarbete mellan frivilligt och kommunalt arbete pågår och att kommunen i flera fall räknar med den frivilliga insatsen i samhället istället för att starta egna projekt.

Some of the leading members used to belong to the Mondaygroup in the 1940s and brought a will to update and modernise Swedish music with them into Fylkingen. This resulted in a radical change in the concert programs of Fylkingen and a development that lead to the introduction of the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen in Sweden.

The male surrealist images of women was polarised in to the godlike, child and the erotic, convulsive object. The mythologizied woman was the muse of men´s creativity. But still there were many women artists who participated in the movement, so clearly there was something in surrealism that attracted women.

Noise music is created around sounds not often welcome in a musical context. Since the birth of electronic music in the 1950s a new perspective on composing has emerged. In electronic music, sounds and their timbre are as much important as melody, harmony and rhythm. This composing perspective is not often observed. Therefore I have examined a musical genre that stretches the boundaries of what we consider music, sound, noise, beautiful and terrible.

Bruno K. Öijer is one of Sweden's well known poets. He belongs to a poetic avant-garde and made his debut in 1973. Many literature researchers and reviewers have focused on Öijer as person and poet. I will discuss Öijer's authorship in relation to literary traditions, such as orphic tradition, avant-garde and modernsim, surrealism and the outsider definition.

The present MA thesis analyzes how body and blood functions as historical and narrative elements in Yu Hua's novel Chronicle of a Blood Merchant (1995). In the novel, the story and the plot can not be regarded as disparate items; the two levels of the text are tightly interwoven by what the thesis introduces as a sangvinolent narration. The term conceptualizes the use of blood as a structural element and the thrust of the text, in this case how the ability to sell blood is a prerequisite for the story and the plot.Close readings reveal the structural correlations between the blood-selling main-character Xu Sanguan in the plot on the one hand, and in the story on the other, which can be detected to have, inter alia, an effect on the temporality of the narrative. Themes linked to identity, belonging and survival (performativity, mimicry, reification and alienation) permeate the text. In the novel the body and bodily fluids are sacrificed in order to form and enforce perceptions of identity and societal roles.The rhetorical use of ?blood and tears? (Ch.

Växjö kommun ingick år 1998-2000 i ett projekt för att tydliggöra roller och gränsdragningar mellan frivilligorganisationer och kommunen. Detta utmynnade i ett kommunfullmäktige-beslut om att inrätta en frivilligcentral som blev en Volontärbyrå 2006. Det övergripande syftet med vår uppsats är att analysera olika aktörers syn på roller och gränsdragningar mellan frivilliga insatser och offentlig verksamhet. Våra frågeställningar handlar om hur olika aktörer nu uppfattar frivilligorganisationernas roller i förhållande till kommunen och hur gräns-dragningen hanteras.Vi har gjort en kvalitativ hermeneutisk studie med abduktiv ansats eftersom vi utgår från empiriska data men samtidigt tolkar och analyserar utifrån teori och tidigare forskning om frivilligorganisationers roller och gränsdragning. Vi utgår från Erik Blennbergers roll-kategorisering: Avantgarde, komplement, alternativ och ersättare.

This paper aims to investigate the terms and conditions of a lesbian gaze and a lesbian spectatorship from a feminist and queer theoretical point of view. The empirical material consists of three paintings by the American artist Romaine Brooks (1874-1970).  Brooks was based in Paris in the early 20th century where she was surrounded by a group of intellectual and usually cross-dressing lesbians. The women within this context are the ones depicted in Brooks? paintings and this makes her one of the first artists in modernity to openly portray lesbian and cross-dressing women.

This masters thesis is a study of the ideas brought forward in the literary magazine 40-tal. The methodology involves the adaptation of a literary sociological perspective where the ideas of the young literary Avantgarde in the magazine 40-tal interplays with the established philosophy of the Swedish society during the period 1944-47. The main purpose has been to examine 40-tal as a product of supreme individuality that originates a unique climate of ideas which exceeds the involved collaborators individual writings. I have thereby related my analysis to the Marxist oriented theories of Raymond Williams. This has been done in order to see how the external pressure of the social structure and the market acts together with the internal pressure of keeping up with the times and how this affects the individual authors and the process of creating.

Sociala rörelser som utmanar den rådande ordningens etablerade värden och målsättningar formeras ständigt, och utverkar nya kamper, på den samhälleliga arenan. Allt för ofta ses dessa rörelser som något hotande, som uttryck för irrationella utbrott av affekt, snarare än som symptom på grundläggande samhälleliga konflikter och kontradiktioner, vars artikuleringar bör förstås i relation till samhället som en helhet, och till dess dominerande diskurser. Och allt för sällan ses värdet i den kunskap som skapas inom dessa rörelser, en kunskap som ofta brukar komma samhället till del, men även förskjuta de gränsdragningar som konstituerar kunskapen, makten och vetandet.Utifrån ett studium av Förbundet Kommunist, en liten organisation inom den svenska revolutionära 70-talsvänster som hade sina rötter i 60-talets studentuppror, den så kallade bokstavsvänstern, diskuteras dels, på ett mer generellt plan, hur man kan förstå fenomenet sociala rörelser, utifrån teorier som står i relation till en marxistisk problematik (med teoretiker som Antonio Gramsci, Louis Althusser, samt Chantal Mouffe och Ernesto Laclau). Dels diskuteras och undersöks hur denna organisations artikuleringar kan förstås, i sin historiska, sociala och diskursiva kontext, utifrån en symbolorienterad kulturanalys. Främst fokuseras på den leninistiska diskurs som organisationen verkade inom, samt den "proletarisering" som organisationens medlemmar företog.
