This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.

In order for a judgement to be enforceable in another Member State, there is a certain requirement for an "intermediate? court procedure, a so-called exequatur procedure. An exequatur procedure is both expensive and time-consuming. The average cost of the procedure within the EU is 2 200 euro in a case without particular difficulties. In more complex cases, the cost of the procedure can be validated up to 12 700 euro.

One example is overcrowding, which is a way to increase stock size without making costly investments in the buildings. It can be carried out systematically to increase profitability or due to, for example uneven calving during the year. The European Commission criticizes the fact that stocking density is not controlled under Swedish welfare inspections.

Den arena där socker och sötma förstärs har förändrats i och med att socker har gått från en global handelsvara, endast tillgänglig ett fåtal, till en lokal som når de stora massorna. Detta kanske kan ses som en mindre revolution i mathållningen. Men varför äter människan socker och varför finner hon smaken så åtråvärd?Syftet med studien var att ur ett evolutionärt samt kulturellt perspektiv undersöka varför människan finner den söta smaken åtråvärd.Metoden som har använts i föreliggande studie var en litteraturstudie av vetenskapliga artiklar där artiklar som berör hälsoaspekter som socker och sötma orsakar diskuteras emot bakgrundens evolutionära samt kulturella aspekter.Resultatet visade att människan fann den söta smaken åtråvärd baserat både på medfödda samt kulturellt inlärda preferenser.Av diskussionen framgick att det fanns en medfödd preferens för sötma men att den kulturellt betingade preferensen tog över genom den inlärning hon får från sin första måltid av modersmjölk och framåt. Människan förknippade därför sött med både trygghet, lugn, belöning, tröst men framförallt med mat.

I tidigare studier har det uppmärksammats hinder i den fysiska miljön och i bemötandet för skateboard på allmänna platser. Det har även visats att skateboardparker verkar främja skateboardutövandet. Denna studie syftar därmed till att kartlägga hinder och förutsättningar för skateboard och undersöka hur skateboardparker påverkar den fysiska aktiviteten. Det är även av intresse att studera hur de sociala faktorerna påverkar skateboardutövande då tidigare forskning tyder på att det är ett viktigt inslag i skateboardutövandet. Som metod använder sig studien av en kvalitativ design.

The purpose of this study was to examine how professional workers understand the bullying problem among Swedish youth in the age of 13-15 years. The main focus was to examine the new phenomena electronic bullying, from a professional point of view.The biggest question to answer was: "How does the school and organizations understand the bullying situation among Swedish youth today?" Individual interviews with professional social workers within the school and nationwide organizations have been used to fulfill the purpose of this work. Two different respondent types were used in order to get a wide perspective and a dynamic view.Electronic bullying had increased, but the school yard was still the most common arena for bullying, according to the respondents. The schools tried to prevent bullying, but the social workers felt that they lacked some knowledge of electronic bullying, because it was relative new.

Syftet med denna kvalitativa studie var att undersöka hur talang kan användas i organisationers jakt på och rekrytering av medarbetare som kan bidra till verksamhetens utveckling. Detta har gjorts genom en empirisk studie där vi försökt undersöka och behandla begreppet talang genom att jämföra formell affärsverksamhet med fotbollsindustrin. Detta då vi fann att talang är något som sedan länge diskuterats inom fotbollen men som enligt våra antaganden vara nytt inom formell affärsverksamhet. En litteraturstudie har även genomförts i vilken vi har använt oss av teorier som påvisar framväxten av begreppen talang och talent management för tillämpning i organisationer. Den forskningsfråga vi ställde oss var: hur kan organisationer definiera, finna och rekrytera talang till sin verksamhet? Studiens resultat visar på att talang är att betraktas som relativt och definieras utifrån varje enskild person.

Abstract Over the years the consciousness of risk has grown. It?s hard to influence risks, therefore there are guidelines stating that significant risk must be included in the annual report. This paper is a case study; the purpose was to examine how four Swedish listed companies chose to disclose their internal and external risks. Risk is initially described in general sense and then it figures to what constitutes an economic risk.Through a case study of four Swedish listed companies? annual reports we have, through qualitative methods found how the companies chose to disclosure their risks.

The concept of the dynamic region has become a more prospering thought in the era of globalisation. This concerns in particular, cross border regions ? well-integrated territorial regions crossing more than one nation. In this paper I examine the development from a critical perspective and I map the democratic pitfalls of new territorial political constructions across national borders. The empirical analysis is a case report taken from the Öresund region, a cross border region between Sweden and Denmark.

Denna studie behandlar kommentarerna till ett antal svenska nättidningars ledarartiklar. Syftet är att se vad kommentarerna behandlar, hur diskussionerna går och om de kan ses som en delav så kallade deliberativa demokratiska samtal. Med den kvantitativa innehållsanalysen som verktyg har vi undersökt 1730 kommentarer till 38 olika ledare fördelat på 6 olika nättidningar, Aftonbladet.se, Dn.se, Nt.se, Op.se, Sydsvenskan.se och Arbetarbladet.se. Det är en ledare per tidning som undersökts varje dag från den 28 mars till den 3 april 2011. Totalt har varje kommentar undersökts med 24 olika variabler för att få en bild av hur diskussionerna går, vad som behandlas och om kommentarfälten ären eventuell arena för deliberativa samtal.

Audit is a service of society that takes place in the public interest. To guarantee the quality of auditing a quality control is done with predetermined time intervals. The purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the concept quality and the procedure of the quality control and further to tie concepts like trust and ethics to the audit profession. To make the picture complete the paper also provides an insight regarding what deficiencies in quality, in other words failures, means to the audit profession. By performing semi-structured interviews with seven qualified auditors, active on different auditing firms in Skåne, substantial information was collected.

Total protection is often the option chosen when protecting forests with high environmental values. An alternative to total protection is application of management regimes that do not interrupt continuity of tree cover. This study focuses mainly on continuous cover forestry (CCF) in forest stands already protected. All objects are situated in the county of Jämtland in northwest Sweden. The purpose of the study was to attain a greater knowledge about CCF practices.

The use of energy is an important question in today´s society, and a substantial part of the energy that is used today is used in our homes. To lower this usage is vital, and there are regulations in place both on the national and the local level, that say that new apartment blocks must be built to consume less energy, which in the end will lower the impact on the climate.One way to make the housing sector more environmentally sustainable, is to produce energy issions that are bad for the environment, for example to build wind turbines close to or even on the buildings, so called urban wind power. The scope for this report is to see if urban wind power could be a sustainable alternative for the residential area that Svenska Bostäder plans to build in Albano in Stockholm.There are extensive scientific theories regarding wind and wind power, and a literature study is made to investigate past knowledge in the area. Efforts have been made to find earlier trials with urban wind power and, both scientific research and trials where urban wind power actually has been installed. The theory chapter deals both with the wind itself and how electricity can be generated from wind.

Sjötåget sommaren 1676 blev ett svenskt misslyckande. Efter regalskeppet Kronans förlisning och förlusten av sjöslaget den första juni 1676 tillsatte kungen Karl XI en kommissorialrätt med syfte att ställa de ansvariga för misslyckandet till svars. Kommissorialrättens protokoll har utgjort den här undersökningens grund. Syftet har varit att dels undersöka kommissorialrättens arbete, dess organisation, retorik och metod, men också att analysera de tankemönster och värderingar som präglade och styrde dess handlingsmönster. Det står klart att kommissorialrättens ledamöter, samt de berörda officerarna, i stor utsträckning delade ett antal föreställningar om mod och manlighet, plikt och trohet, samt heder och ära.
