Mastitis, inflammation in the udder tissue, caused by S. aureus is a big problem in dairy cattle production. It causes suffering for the cow and curing or replacing the infected cow is costly for the farmer. It is known that beef cattle also suffer from mastitis caused by S. aureus.

Andelen äldre i Sveriges befolkning blir allt fler då människor lever längre samtidigt som det föds fler barn. Det finns ett flertal studier som tar upp betydelsefulla områden för hälsan som påverkas av åldrandet och som är viktigt att bibehålla hela livet ut. Några av dessa är en god kosthållning, den funktionella förmågan och ett fungerande socialt nätverk. Flera projekt har bedrivits inom äldreområdet med fokus på dessa områden och några av dessa har utvärderats. Resultaten från projekten har varit varierande och det saknas kunskap om vad det är som gör att projektet vart framgångsrikt eller inte.

Genom att använda sig av ett och samma klipp men med olika bakgrundsmusik vill jag försöka förstå hur musik påverkar uppfattningen av en film. Handling of animals during anaesthesia is an important field in the profession as a veterinary nurse and in which intubation is an essential part. Hence, adequate knowledge is necessary for the welfare of the animal. The objective of this literature study was to make it useful and trustworthy for veterinary nurses. It is intended to describe and summarize existing scientificity with its benefits and disadvantages within the different areas of intubation techniques and alternative methods of inhalation anaesthetic supplementation for general anaesthesia in rabbits. Endotracheal intubation in rabbits can be complicated and technically demanding due to the anatomy of the oropharynx including the narrowness of this structure, a relatively large tongue, large incisors and a limited mobility of the temperomandibular joint. The obstructed visualization of larynx and the rabbit?s tendency to develop laryngospasm contributes to the difficulty of intubation. Rabbits are susceptible to tracheal injury and multiple intubation attempts can cause tracheal lesions due to repeated damage to the tracheal mucous membrane, although damage can occur after a single intubation attempt as well. An ETT (endotracheal tube) with or without a cuff can be used during orotracheal intubation in rabbits.

In the last couple of years changes in the legal systems treatment of young offenders has given the social worker more legal responsibility. In view of this, our purpose with this study was to examine how social workers and prosecutors apprehend the role of the social worker during the legal process. The study was delimited to look into the handling of young offenders between the ages of 15 and 18 years old. The questions we intended to look at were: How do the social workers reason when trying to see the need of a child within a legal context; Do prosecutors and social workers experience that they have different approaches when looking at young offenders, as a consequence of their different professions; What is the opinion among social workers considering the duty of the social services to administrate community service for young offenders; How do the social workers argue when determining whether or not a young offender has a "special need for care". These questions were answered through empirical studies where six social workers and two prosecutors were interviewed.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka begreppet Det kompetenta barnet. Genom att undersöka toddlares förmågor och kompetenser i ett undersökande arbetssätt, ville jag se vilka kompetenser som barnen visar och hur det kan förhålla sig till bilden av det kompetenta barnet. Jag ville undersöka på vilka sätt barnen kommunicerade med varandra i undersökandet. Med fenomenen flyta och sjunka, som ämnesinnehåll i barnens undersökande, ville jag se hur barnen använder sig av de olika materialen och hur de uttrycker sig kring fenomenen. Jag ville även i denna studie undersöka vilka miljöerbjudanden och invitationer till handling som utemiljön erbjuder barnen i undersökandet.

Today?s housing system for laying hens has limitations for the hens natural behavior. Despite the current law of prevention of cruelty to animals, this might implicate health problems for the hens. This degree project is aiming to improve the situation for laying hens in cage-systems. The aim with our project is to bring forward a draft of a cage that improves the welfare of laying hens.

Denna uppsats dokumenterar en fallstudie som gjordes hösten 2006 vid Linde Material Handling i Örebro. Företaget var på väg att expandera och planerade att utöka användningen av IT i verksamheten. I samband med detta gavs undertecknade i uppdrag att utforma en informationssäkerhetspolicy för verksamheten. I en litteraturstudie kunde det konstateras att det inte fanns några enklare riktlinjer för att utforma sådana policies, varmed syftet blev att göra detta. Genom en fallstudie på företaget där vi utformade en IS-policy för deras verksamhet, och även gjorde intervjuer med ledning och dokumentationsanalyser, utrönas vilka problem som kan uppstå och vilka överväganden som bör göras för att utforma en lyckad policy.

India is the country with the highest prevalence of rabies in the world, with about 20?000 human deaths occurring every year. The country also has a heavy burden of free roaming dogs, mainly because of the high amount of edible waste in the streets, which are the main hosts for the disease. Therefore to truly extinguish rabies, the main focus should be on the dogs, both stray dogs and owned. One method is to vaccinate all dogs against rabies.

Har riten en djupare mening, ett arv vi bär med oss och känner ett undermedvetet behov av? Kan riten ge oss tröst? Vad har riten för betydelse för oss?I mitt examensarbete har jag undersökt hur vi genom riten reflekterar och knyter an till erfarenheten av att vara människa. Jag har tittat på om riten finns i vår vardag, utan att vi ser den. Kan de olika upprepande och igenkännande handlingar i ett hem ge oss den trygghet som en rit kan ge? Riten kännetecknas genomkontinuitet, igenkänning, tillhörighet och tröst.

Castration of dogs holds many reasons and opinions, therefore methods, traditions and rea-sons vary. The approaches have during time changed from mostly surgical castrations to also including hormonal treatments. Castration is used to control the dog's reproductive abilities, for medical reasons and to possibly rectify problems of behavioral nature. How common a particular method of castration is in a country is highly dependent on the country's traditions. In Sweden it is most common with castration for medical reasons, such as possible elimina-tion of diseases, for example, benign colorectal tumors.

This study concerns a selection of prehistoric metal objects of animalistic design, published at the internet site of the Swedish Statens Historiska Museum. It seeks to give an impression of the design elements used, and to find likely models for the motifs among live animals. The method used is a qualitative hermenuetic comparative study of objects, where the distinct significant design elements are being identified and interpretated. Several significant design elements are identified, and some are interpretated as representing certain animals. The amalgamation of differentiating design elements in some objects however, leads to interpretations of compound animal motifs, where some motifs are considered ambiguous and some are rendered uninterpretated.

Detta är ett arbete som visar en del av de teorier som finns inom moralutvecklingen idag. Tyngdpunkten har lagts på Lawrence Kohlberg och hans stadieutveckling. Därtill kommer kritiker till dessa teorier att tas upp. Nancy Eisenberg och Carol Gilligans ?bry sig om?-perspektiv på moralutveckling kommer att ställas mot Kohlbergs mer rättviseinriktade teoristadier.
