Syfte: Att beskriva dagkirurgiska patienters upplevelse av att bli utskrivna hem samma dag efter operation utförd i generell anestesi. Metod: Kvalitativ intervjustudie med induktiv ansats. Elva patienter som har opererats via en handkirurgisk mottagning i mellersta Sverige har intervjuats utifrån en semistrukturerad intervjuguide. Sju kvinnor och fyra män i åldrarna mellan 28-71 år har deltagit i studien. Innehållsanalys användes för analys av materialet.

Dystocia, or difficult birth, is a commonly seen complication to natural birth in veterinary hospitals. Although other methods of resolving dystocia exist, 60 % of dystocias will need to undergo caesarean section. To perform a caesarean section, the bitch will have to undergo anesthesia. The purpose of this literary study was to provide a deeper understanding regarding how the physiologic changes that occur during pregnancy influence anesthetic management in the bitch and puppies. Which anesthetic drugs and drug combinations indicated was also investigated as well as how a veterinary nurse can optimize care of the mother throughout the procedure and how resuscitation of the puppies should be carried out for best possible outcome.

Tidigare studier har visat att många patienter som genomgår dagkirurgi upplever oro inför operation, vilket orsakar lidande för individen men också ökat behov av sömnmedel och ökad risk för postoperativ smärta och oro. För att kunna genomföra omvårdnadsåtgärder för att minska oro måste den först identifieras, vilket framförallt är anestesisjuksköterskans uppgift i mötet med patienten. Syfte: Att undersöka patienters skattning av sin oro vid ankomst till operationsavdelningen vid dagkirurgi samt hur väl anestesisjuksköterskans skattning av patientens oro överensstämmer med patientens egen skattning. SammanfattningBakgrund: Övervikt och fetma är ett växande problem i Sverige och i stora delar av världen. Överviktskirurgin har ökat kraftigt de senaste åren och är idag en utbredd metod för att behandla övervikt och dess följdsjukdomar. Trots att syftet med operationen är att minska risken för ohälsa så visar studier att personer som genomgått denna typ av behandling, konsumerar mer sjukvård än personer som behandlats med andra metoder mot sin fetma. Att möta och stödja närstående till svårt sjuka patienter är en av sjuksköterskans många uppgifter. Författarparet har genomfört en empirisk kvalitativ intervjustudie om hur närstående uppfattar att de blivit bemötta inom kirurgisk verksamhet. Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med fem stycken deltagare vars anhöriga vårdas eller vårdats för malign sjukdom i övre mag- tarm kanalen inom kirurgisk verksamhet. Syftet med studien var att få ökad kunskap i hur närstående uppfattar bemötandet. Vidare var syftet att ta reda på hur anhöriga önskar bli bemötta.

Clinical signs of hypocalcaemia in dairy cows are easily recognized, and a rapid response to treatment generally confirms the diagnosis in the field. However, clinical signs of other disorders in cows, such as toxemia, calving paralysis, or muscoskeletal injury, may mimic those associated with hypocalcaemia. Therefore, making a diagnosis of hypocalcaemia on the basis of clinical signs alone may be difficult. In ambulatory veterinary practices, cow-side tests are useful to make the diagnosis and prognosis easier. Kruuse?s Kalcium Test is a cow-side test based on the principle that calcium ions are necessary for coagulation of blood, and that chelation with EDTA prevent coagulation.
