High demands are set on all equipment used in emergency service work, where small margins can be the distinguishing factor between life and death during a rescue operation. It is important that tools such as ladders quickly and easily can be dismounted from a vehicle and still satisfy the regulatory requirements for securing loads during transport. The existing solution for getting ladders down from the roof of a fire engine requires a large manual effort from the user in an ergonomically unsound posture.In this degree project a new ladder holder is developed with focus on the user to solve the ergonomic problems and at the same time create a more compact design that can be adapted to several different types of ladders. After an initial pre-study with user-interviews and measurement of forces and distances a set of requirements was formulated that came to govern the project's direction. Creative methods were used to generate concepts that improved the function and through design solutions, calculations and testing in CAD a base for manufacturing of a new product was created.The result is a completely new type of ladder holder that minimizes the user's manual effort and simplifies the securing of ladders in the holder.

För att undersöka möjligheten att använda sig av membranfiltering vid Gäddviks vattenverk (Luleå kommun) har ultrafilter från två olika leverantörer utvärderats. Denna rapport behandlar de 6 första månaderna av anläggningarnas drift. De två leverantörerna är Zenon GmbH och Inge AG. Vid drift av anläggningarna har det största bekymret varit igensättningar (fouling) av membranen. Igensättningar måste kunna åtgärdas för att långvarig drift av membranen ska vara möjligt.

Cochlear implant has become a common treatment for people with severe hearing loss. As the field of cochlear implants is developing rapidly a larger group of patients will be implanted. Therefore, it can be of interest to identify which complications are most frequently occurring. Objective: The aim of this study is to identify and present the most common complications in cochlear implant treatment and to identify surgical issues that have to be addressed during implantation. Method: A review of retrospective case studies regarding complications has been made.

En marknadsundersökning av förekommande metoder för digitalisering av karosseridetaljer. Olika skannertyper analyserades och en rekommendation av lämplig metod lämnades till uppdragsgivaren. Förutom punktantal beaktades även punktorintering, inskanningskostnad/tid, positioneringssystem och mätrymd. Uppdragsgivaren rekommenderades att använda en optisk skanner för projicering av fransar med ett optiskt spårningssystem. Då tillverkning skall ske i mycket små serier berördes även olika tillverkningsmetoder, som exempelvis hydroformning mot ett formverktyg av aluminium eller kompositcement.

The use of earth bricks in Scanian building traditionThe present work is concerned with the manufacturing and use of earth bricks inbuilt heritage in the south Swedish province of Scania. The first part of the studyprovides a thorough description of the traditional use and manufacturing of earthbricks based on relevant literature, archive material as well as interviews withinformants. This forms a basis for the second part of the study in which practicalexperiments on and tests with earth bricks where carried out. This involved themaking of traditional earth bricks of different composition. The new handmadebricks were compared with industrially produced bricks (extrusion bricks) and oldhandmade bricks.

Denna rapport presenterar det examensarbete på 10 poäng jag gjorde på möbeldesignprogrammet vid Carl Malmsten CTD våren 2006. Syftet med denna rapport är att beskriva och klargöra processen av detta examensarbete samt formgivningen av produkterna som styrts av mitt koncept. Rapporten grundar sig på dokumentation från processens gång och jag har valt att redovisa mitt arbete i denna rapport i fyra kapitel. Den första inledande delen beskriver bakgrunden till projektet, den andra redovisar insamlingsetappen i form av bild, skissmaterial och konceptbeskrivning, den tredje handlar om skissetappen och själva designprocessen och den sista visar dokumentationen av gestaltningsarbetet av prototyperna. Avslutningsvis kommer en resultatanalys och kommentarer till arbetet och produkterna.

The automotive industry is increasingly studying lightweight solution in their designs, also rational production and low costs in materials and manufacturing methods are of great interest. This thesis consisted in the practical evaluation of anchors for sandwich panels. The object was to study loads of shearing and pull out of the plane. The experiments were carried out on panels made up of 1mm aluminium coatings and 50mm extruded polystyrene (XPS) at its core. As the fasteners used simple methods such as blind rivets, screw and glue.

This work investigates the breeding success of the Black-throated Diver, Gavia arctica, related to the water quality in three lakes located in the Vallentuna area, north of Stockholm, Sweden.For more than 30 years, I have studied the bird life around these three and other nearby lakes, and noticed that the Black-throated Diver breeds in some lakes, but not in others.The results confirm that the deep and clear lakes Tärnan and Stora Harsjön have good water quality regarding pH, alkalinity, aluminium and Secchi disk values. As expected, the Black-throated Diver shows breeding success in those two lakes, but does not breed in the shallow and eutrophic lake Mysslingen. .

Pallco is a subcontractor that is specialized on steel and aluminium components.The aim of the report is to show an improvement proposal that leads to a reduction of the storage and improve the flow through the production of one item that is a part of a product that Pallco manufactures.With the increasing competition from other countries who can manufacture with lower costs must Swedish companies try to make theirs manufacturing as efficient as possible and remove all waste. By using the tools of Lean Production it is possible to reduce the costs and increase the efficiency.The method we used is value stream mapping. Rapporten behandlar arbetet med att göra arbetsmiljön vid en aluminiumpress säkrare. Idag sågas mindre bitar nypressad aluminiumprofil på ett sådant sätt att operatören bland annat exponeras för mycket heta spånor.Genom systematisk konstruktionsmetodik genererades ett antal koncept, dessa utvärderades och en detaljkonstruktion av två koncept genomfördes. Det ena av dessa två innebär att stänga av kylluften underifrån under sågningen medan det andra innebär en mekaniserad lösning med en låda på en vagn, vilken gör en operatörs närvaro onödig.Arbetet bedrevs på Sapa Profiler AB i Finspång och gav insikter i hur konstruktionsarbete på ett tillverkande företag kan gå till. Arbetet var mycket fritt och stort rum har lämnats för kreativa och nyskapande lösningar..
