Future emission legislation puts great emphasis on increasing the efficiency of the engine, thereby reducing fuel consumption. The tribological contact between cylinder liner and piston ring is where an great amount of energy is lost due to friction, and by reducing these losses an reduction in fuel consumption can be achieved.The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the tested piston ring coatings against a plasma sprayed cylinder liner and rank these combinations of materials for friction and wear resistance. The coatings that were tested was Cr + Al2O3, (Al,Cr)N, two types of CrN and WC / C.The experimental tests were performed with a so-called pin-plate, where used oil with addition of an acidic mixture of sulfuric and nitric acid to mimic the acidic condensate formed when exhausts recirculate, were added with a continuous flow. The results were then analyzed by weighing, studies by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and profile measurements.The results from each material combination were that the plasma coated cylinder liner wears too aggressively in order to yield a ranking of the piston ring coatings based on the parameters of friction and wear resistance. It is therefore proposed that an alternative coating on the cylinder liner should be developed, lacking the large abrasive wear on piston rings and that can withstand the corrosive environment resulting in engines equipped with EGR.

Converting energy-rich crops into ethanol suitable as motor fuel is a complex process and continuous development and improvements of processes and material used are important steps in the work of developing environmental friendly fuels. Grain is usually preserved by drying which consumes a lot of energy. Alternative storage of high-moisture grain in airtight storage systems reduce the energy required to produce bioethanol and studies have also shown that ethanol yields are increased more than 10% in ethanol fermentations of moist grain compared to dry. Airtight storage is often not perfectly airtight so biocontrol agents are necessary in order to preserve the grain.

Syftet med detta utvecklingsarbete är att utforma och utvärdera en lektionsserie för att se om det är möjligt att lära geometri med hjälp av konkret material och vardagsnära matematik, för elever i åldern 8-9-år. För att utforma och utvärdera utvecklingsarbetet har intervjuer använts som metod. I arbetet planerades och genomfördes fyra temadagar tillsammans med 13 elever där varje lektionstillfälle hade fokus på ett område inom geometri. Genomförandet visar att arbetet med konkret och vardagsnära matematik inte behöver vara invecklat utan är fullt av möjligheter. Intervjuerna visar också att det är lustfyllt för eleverna och de visar stort engagemang och intresse för uppgiften.

SammanfattningSyftet med uppsatsen har varit att söka reda på huruvida keramiklera används som material för undervisningen i formgivning i högstadie- och gymnasieskolan, varför eller varför inte materialet används samt att se på lärares inställningar till materialet. Metoden har varit en enkätundersökning bestående av frågor till högstadie- och gymnasielärare rörande olika aspekter vad gäller materialet keramiklera och lärarnas inställning till materialet. De svar enkätundersökningen gett visar på att keramiklera inte är vanligt förekommande i undervisningen för formgivning. Resultaten visar även att lärarna i brist på passande lokal, brännugn och tid väljer in andra material i sin undervisning som skulle kunna ersätta keramikleran..

Overdue cleanings have for a long time been an important topic of discussion within the forestry sector. When stands that have not been pre-commercially thinned are reaching the level of commercial thinning, many problems occur in terms of decision-making and economical outcomes. These types of stands are commonly known as conflict-stands. The work was carried out partly as an interview survey towards representatives from the forest sector and the energy sector, partly as a case study of conflict-stands situated in Böksholm, north of Växjö and in Tönnersjö east of Halmstad. The criteria for the studied stands were that they had to be dominated by Norway spruce and be in a severe status of ?conflict?. The scope of this project is to make a comparison of costs associated with wind and nuclear power in order to decide which one of these is the most suitable in the case of an increased demand for electricity. It is also investigated if there are other factors that can influence the choice of energy source.An average cost is calculated in terms of kronor per kilowatt-hour (SEK/kWh) using cost of investment, operation & maintenance and taxes & subsidies. Total investment cost is recalculated to production cost using the annuity method at three different interest rates (6%, 9% and 12%).The comparison is made between three cases of wind power and two cases of nuclear power. For wind power there are two ocean-based (300MW and 100MW installed capacity, respectively) and one land-based (60MW) wind farm. For nuclear power there is one EPR-reactor (1600MW) and one AP1000-reactor (1100MW).
