Vilka avancemangsfaktorer påverkar män och kvinnor att avancera på karriärstegen? : kvantitativ undersökning inom revisionsbranschen

Purpose: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explain how Advancement factors affect men and woman to advance in their careers in the accounting profession.                                Methodology: A positivist approaches and a deductive approach, with a quantitative method was used to obtain the results of the analysis. Theoretical perspective: The theory describes the career stages, audit assistant, approved auditor, registered auditor, manager and partner. Their responsibilities and what it takes to get there is explained. Theory section also describes the different Advancement factors from a gender perspective. Empirical: The empirical material is based on a survey conducted in respondents who represent the five career stages. The collected data is then analyzed using statistical tests. Conclusion: The analysis shows that the identified career Advancement factors that limit and stimulates the male and female auditors? career ladder.

In today?s society there is an ongoing debate concerning gender distribution amongst the top executives and there is a clear distinction between the men and women in leading positions. The reason for this can be because men and women to a certain degree conduct leadership differently. Rehabilitering av och postoperativ funktion hos hundar efter en Tibial Tuberosity Advancement: En utvärdering baserad på hundägares upplevelser

CrCL-ruptur är en av de vanligaste ortopediska skadorna hos hundar. Efter en CrCL-operation är fortsatt rehabilitering en viktig förutsättning för hundens tillfrisknande, men då rehabiliteringen ofta sker på annan ort än den hunden opererades på är det svårt för den ansvariga sjukgymnasten att följa upp och utvärdera rehabiliteringens effekt. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hundägares upplevelser av den postoperativa rehabiliteringen efter att deras hundar genomgått en Tibial Tuberosity Advancement. En enkät med 32 frågor konstruerades i det webbaserade enkätprogrammet EvaSys, och skickades ut via mail eller brev till 36 hundägare vars hundar genomgått en TTA-operation på ett Djursjukhus i Sverige mellan åren 2012-2014. Totalt inkom 18 enkäter, vilket innebar en svarsfrekvens på 50%.

The purpose of the thesis is to examine why women face greater difficulties than men in the management consulting industry when advancing as well as to identify potential success factors that enable women to overcome the existing difficulties. In order to fulfil the purpose, a theoretical framework including gender and organisational theory has been applied to a qualitative case study of two Swedish management consulting firms. A number of difficulties have been identified related to women's career Advancement, which are the following: the male leader and the stereotypical male leadership, firms having higher expectations on women's performance, women's reluctance to self-promotion and to play "the organizational game", women's preference of social networks, men's tendency to promote other men, and the choice and conflict between a career and family life. The identified success factors that enable women to overcome these difficulties are: adapting the male leadership style, having an extrovert behaviour, becoming more active in professional networks, promoting one self, actively seeking to gain more attention, and prioritising one's career. These success factors can be summarised as women adapting a more male-like behaviour.

Ett livsfarligt yrke: En studie om motivation inom yrken med risk för hot och våld

The purpose of this study is to examine what factors that motivate people to work in professions with an explicit and inherent risk of threats and violence. By using a qualitative study and conducting in-depth interviews with eight security guards and doormen with experience from working at restaurants and nightclubs, the study could conclude that the interviewed security guards and doormen were motivated mainly by economic incentives and the social interaction that the profession entails. Status and riskiness of the profession did also, to a certain extent, contribute to the motivation. The professions' lack of Advancement opportunities were frequently mentioned as the main reason to why one chose to leave the position, or consider the time in the profession as limited..

Diskrepansen mellan läromedel och styrdokument i Religionskunskap : En jämförelse mellan läroböcker och styrdokument i Religionskunskap på gymnasienivå

Med utgångspunkt i en analysmetod framtagen av The American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) utfördes en läromedelsanalys på två separata utgåvor av ett läromedel författade av Birgitta Thulin och Sten Elm (Religion 1, utgiven 2010 och Religion 1 & 2, specialisering, utgiven 2013). Undersökningen gjordes för att söka svar på följande frågor: 1) Vad står det i ämnesplanen för grundkursen religionskunskap? 2) Vad står i motsvarande läromedel? 3) Hur skiljer sig de två undersökta utgåvorna? 4) Hur väl överensstämmer styrdokument och böcker med varandra?Analysen av materialet upptäckte att det finns en betydande diskrepans mellan innehållet i båda de undersökta böckerna, i jämförelse med styrdokumentets centrala innehåll. .

Hur blir man en attraktiv arbetsgivare? : Karriären, vägen till framgång!

Syftet med studien var att undersöka om och hur löneform, möjlighet till avancemang samt företagets CSR-arbete påverkar potentiella arbetssökandes intentioner att söka en ledig tjänst. Studien genomfördes på studerande vid Högskolan i Gävle. 78 personer deltog i studien och genomfördes som enkätundersökning. Resultatet analyserades med multidimensionell skalning (MDS). Det analyserade resultatet visade på två dimensioner där samtliga tre faktorer tycks påverka attraktiviteten hos en arbetsgivare.

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to examine the work situation and career opportunities among women police. We use a gender perspective as a guideline during the examination. Despite words of being, and work to create, gender neutral organization, women police is greatly underrepresented. The interviewed women gave a picture of an organization in which they had to work harder than their male colleagues to advance. The biggest problem seems to lie in the hierarchy dominated by male police officers and the fact that women, during pregnancy, are missing out on valuable time at work, and thus, also essential experiences for future career Advancement.

The aim of this study is to examine the roles of the children?s librarian in a reading aloud context. To reach understanding in this subject, we have conducted interviews with four Swedish librarians working in public libraries whom are involved with reading aloud practices. Previous research shows that the reasons for reading aloud in libraries are diverse and plentiful. Such reasons can be to spread cultural experiences, help children develop their language skills and promote the library to the public.

En kvalitativ studie om svenska städers förväntningar och agerande i nätverket Eurotowns

Some researchers claim that we are witnessing the Advancement of becoming a network society, and in spite of the different problems associated with the network form of organization, many cities still choose to engage in different types of networks. On account of that the aim of the study is to examine which expectations Swedish member cities of the network Eurotowns might have, and if their actions in the initial period of engagement in Eurotowns mainly could be explained by ?Logic of Consequentiality? or ?Logic of Appropriateness?.A qualitative research method was used and a major part of the empirical material consists of the information given by the interviewees.Regarding the expectations Swedish member cities have on Eurotowns, the result showed that five main areas could be identified mutual resource exchange, activities, breadth, security and meeting place. The results also showed that the actions of Swedish member cities may vary between ?Logic of Consequentiality?, ?Logic of Appropriateness? or a combination of the both logics.Furthermore the study also provides empirical evidence supporting the previously theoretical criticism expressed regarding the central assumption that the strategic actions of an actor can be regarded as a direct consequence of the mutual resource dependency..

National libraries hold large, valuable repositories of often unique materials. How can we ensure that the knowledge is accessible without endangering the materials that hold the knowledge? Digital preservation is meant to solve this problem. With more and more material being accessible digitally, users are expected to do more and more of the finding on their own, instead of being guided by librarians. What kind of knowledge do the librarians have, that cannot be mediated through a system? How is the knowledge of experienced librarians passed on to new librarians? What is the difference between physical and digital materials? I have interviewed senior and junior librarians of Det Kongelige Bibliotek in Copenhagen, Nasjonalbiblioteket in Oslo, the National Library in Helsinki, and Kungliga Biblioteket in Stockholm to learn about their journey to knowledge of their collections.
