AbstractThere is a lot of confusion when it comes to defining Special Education. An example of this appears here by a statement from Assarson (2007) "Special Education initiates a special pedagogy, but contains no innate sense of what is the special component in it" (p. 52, authors? translation). This study is an attempt to clarify the elements of the concept.

This thesis deal with tick burden on roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) fawns, in relation to age, weight, hind foot length, and as well as to vegetation and habitat on bed sites. Roe deer fawns (N = 25) were captured from May 27 to June 27. Samples of ticks were collected and tick burden were estimated. Of all sampled ticks the nymphs and adults were Ixodes ricinus, while the larvae were not identified. 4.4 % of the sampled ticks were larvae, 55.0 % nymphs, 26.8 % adult females, and 13.8 % adult males.

The explosion of information technology has given users direct access to an ocean of information. Increased availability puts increasing demands on the ability of students and researchers to search for, filter, and structure information. In response, the role of the research library has shifted from being primarily an information resource to being an educational resource with a focus on teaching users what is known as information literacy. This thesis is a study of user-education at the Karolinska Institute Library KIB, the largest medical library in the Nordic countries. KIB has invested significant resources in developing user-education, and has a full-time user-education developer and a formal pedagogical platform for user-education.

We wanted to study if and how students become motivated and stimulated towards a permanent interest for regular physical activity, from a pedagogical perspective. Our goal was to examine how physical education teachers create motivation for the students and how you, as a physical education teacher, can motivate those students who are physically inactive due to obesity or other various kinds of problems. In the theoretical background, we have made a summary of sports and development of the physical education subject over the years. We also describe society´s perspective on public health. The motivation concept is definded and we explain different motivational theories.

The aim of this thesis is to examine whether the youth section, named ?Young adults?, in the library in our study is justified or not. We will do this by examining connections between society?s and the library?s views on youth and youth culture. In our study we examine the purpose of the young adult-department and which measures are taken to reach the purposes.

Sjuksköterskeutbildningen har sedan dess start i mitten av 1800-talet utvecklats från att ha varit en rent praktiskt inriktad yrkesutbildning till en mer teoretiskt inriktad högskoleutbildning. Denna utveckling har fortsatt vilket innebär att klyftan mellan teori och praktik har ökat ytterligare.Mot denna bakgrund är syftet med uppsatsen att undersöka vilka krav på lärande den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskan upplever i den situation hon står inför, när hon med en huvudsaklig teoretisk utbildning möter den kliniska praktiken, samt att analysera hur sjuksköterskorna kan stödjas i att hantera situationen. Utifrån vårt syfte har vi valt att utföra en empirisk undersökning, där vi har intervjuat sju sjuksköterskor från Helsingborgs lasarett. Den kvalitativa ansatsen föll naturligt då vi sökte en djupare förståelse för sjuksköterskorna och deras situation.I vår undersökning kommer vi fram till att det är svårt för nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor att ta sig an de krav på kompetens som yrket ställer. För att klara av situationen behöver de stöd och handledning både från Helsingborgs lasarett och från arbetskamraterna.

Denna undersökning handlar om hur elever ser på sina studier inom Grundläggande vuxenutbildningen. Genom intervjuer med fyra kvinnor i 40-årsåldern, har jag kommit fram till att de trivts med utbildningen och den har gett dem ökat självförtroende. Flera av dem anser att den specialpedagogiska hjälp de fått har varit avgörande för att klara av sina fortsatta studier. De elever som har provat ut hjälpmedel har använt dom aktivt när de läst vidare efter den grundläggande utbildningen.Samtliga elever tycker att de har förändrats av sina studier detta gäller främst som tidigare nämnts självförtroendet. De tycker också att de har utvecklats som människor, de ser på händelser på nytt sätt.

Trettio kognitivt friska testpersoner (ålder M=31,9 år, utbildning M=16,3 år) testades med både WAIS-III (?Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale - third edition?) och WAIS-III NI (?WAIS-III som neuropsykologiskt instrument?) för att undersöka eventuella skillnader i resultat mellan testen. Testpersonerna fick en signifikant ökning vid testning med WAIS-III NI jämfört med testning med WAIS-III på HIK (11,1), VIK (14,7), PIK (3,9), VF (11,4), POI (5,5), AMI (8,8), BK (1,6), LI (3,3), BL (0,6), AR (3,1), SR (1,1), IN (1,5) och FÖ (2,8). Det fanns en signifikant positiv korrelation mellan ålder och hur stor diskrepansen var mellan de olika versionerna för BL (r=0,379, p=0,039) och MA (r=0,413, p=0,023) samt en negativ korrelation mellan ålder och diskrepansen på FÖ (r=-0,422, p=0,020). Det fanns en signifikant negativ korrelation mellan utbildningsnivå och hur stor diskrepansen var mellan de olika versionerna av AR (r=-0,399, p=0,029)..

Trots att skolan har lärande som sitt gebit vet man inte särskilt mycket om förutsättningarna för dess organisatoriska lärande, vilket anses nödvändigt för en organisations utveckling. Jag har därför valt att undersöka och identifiera de faktorer som är rimliga att anta att man kan applicera på skolans verksamhet - trots att den som organisation skiljer sig från vinstdrivande företag genom exempelvis begränsade ekonomiska resurser och komplexa organisationsstruktur. Den metod jag har valt är en kvalitativ litteraturstudie och i min teorigenomgång beskriver och förklarar jag begreppen organisation, lärande på individ- och gruppnivå samt lärande organisation. Därefter redogör jag, utifrån ett systemteoretiskt perspektiv, hur en lärande organisation kan uppnås. I min analys diskuterar jag sedan hur dessa förutsättningar kan uppnås i skolan utifrån områdena kultur, organisatoriska förutsättningar såsom struktur, gruppsammansättningar och ledarskap, samt kommunikation och reflektion.

The aim of this study has been to create an understanding for the situation of an often forgotten group in foster care, the carers? own children. Our main focus has been the experience this group has of foster care, their experience of participation in caring for the foster children and their possible need of support and help. Our chosen method has been qualitative interviews with six adult children of foster carers, two men and four women. The theory used in this study has been Sense of Coherence.Our interviewees gave mainly a positive description of being part of a foster family even though they could give examples of difficult situation and of loss.

Abstract This research is about outdoor education as a pedagogical method, and its purpose is to find out six teachers thoughts about outdoor learning, and their experiences about this method.Many philosophers and advocates for the outdoor education claims that learning is best acquired when children uses all their senses and that school subjects that are thought in the classrooms also can be thought outdoors.  Studies have shown that children´s health and learning ability increase when they are thought outdoors.Interviews and observations have been done.My questions are: How do the teachers practice outdoor education in their classes and what is the result? Which subjects do they use in outdoor education? During our teacher training, focusing on history and Swedish at further education level, we have noticed a discrepancy in the way history is portrayed in further education and higher education literature. Accounts of historical ideas, events and developments have often wrongly been depicted as non-gender specific, that is, of equal relevance to both men and women. To what extent is it made clear in further education textbooks that Rousseau?s treatise on education was exclusively aimed at the male gender, and how are the gender-specific aspects of his ideas described? What role and space are set aside for women in the accounts of the struggle for the universal right to vote in Sweden at the turn of the century in 1900, and how is the unions? initial exclusion of female workers portrayed? Focusing on the above historical events and developments, this study aimes to examine whether or not gender-specific issues are described as gender neutral in a selection of history textbooks for further education published in Sweden between 1982 and 2003..

In the informational age of today, continuous learning is of greatest importance. The demand for this seems to be increasing, while at the same time people are under more pressure to carry out more tasks in shorter amounts of time. A way to solve the problem of finding time to learn could be to make use of the possibilities that Internet offers for learning at a distance. The purpose of this thesis is to, from a pedagogical perspective, contribute to the discussion concerning Internet based distance education for a target population consisting of professionals. We have found that some of the courses included in the two certification programs which we have investigated are suitable for Internet based distance education.
