Karaktärsskapandets karaktär : En undersökning om karaktärsskapandets betydelse i MMORPGs

Denna uppsats undersöker vad spelare vill uppleva i sitt karaktärsskapande iolika spel. Syftet med arbetet har varit att få bättre förståelse för vad enanvändare vill ha ut av sin karaktär och sitt karaktärskapande.Frågeställningen i arbetet löd: ?Vad är för en designer viktigast att tänka pånär man designar en karaktärsskapande del i ett spel?? Förhoppningen varatt få en djupare förståelse för karaktärsskapandets karaktär för att bättrekunna designa den karaktärsskapande delen i ett spel. Undersökningengenomfördes med en kvalitativ metod för att belysa frågorna djupare. Förstskapades en kvalitativ intervju, och efter intervjuerna skapades tre nyafrågor som lades ut på två internetforum med inriktning mot MMORPGs.De spelare som verkade vara mest intresserade av karaktärsskapande ochprocessen kring karaktärsskapandet, var de spelare som ibland ägnade sig åtrollspelande.

The purpose of the present investigation was to identify how knowledge about goal-setting is developed and applied in practice of male players in the Swedish national floorball team, by using a qualitative methodology. Participants were 6 players playing for the Swedish national team. They were asked to respond to the interview questions in relation to their perception of setting goals for a successful outcome in sports, how their goal- setting process has developed and how they deal with goal setbacks and goal attainment. Results revealed that Swedish national players in floorball employed goal setting often for both individual and team goals in practice and competition. In addition, many interesting findings regarding the process of goal setting emerged in the result.

The material of the essay exists of two games and five reviews. The method that is being used is a content analysis. The games that are being analysed are Jade Empire and Grand Theft Auto ? San Andreas.Main results: The video games are often connected to brutal violence but the analysis of the game Jade Empire shows that it is possible to hve control of the violence in the games and that the player has a possibility to choose the outcome of violence.

The object with this bachelor thesis is to illustrate if equality is present during the interaction between female and male players in the World of Warcraft with focus on the female players conception. The main question is: How does gender matter in the interaction between female and male players in WoW? This question is particularly interesting because WoW is in its own construction neutral in regards to gender in the aspect that gender does not hinder or benefit your avatar when it comes to the avatars development or possibilities. This bachelor thesis describes the views three of female WoW players and how they perceive the interaction with male players with focus on equality. The informants? personal thoughts and experiences are described.

Data och Tv-spel : Data och tv-spels påverkan på ungdomar

The purpose of this study is to investigate in what extension students experience that computer and videogames affect them. I have chosen to focus on the physical, mental and social affect that this activity might bring them. I have also examined how much time the students spends in front of the computer or the videogame and in which social context they play.The method I have chosen to use is a quantitative opinion poll which I used in three classes of the later junior high and I have also conducted five qualitative interviews.The conclusions I have drawn from this investigation are that computer and videogames affects teenagers both physically and mentally. Physically the affects of playing videogames mostly can be derived to the physical inactivity they expose themselves to. The students themselves did not experienced any positive physical affects from their playing.Amongst the mental affects that stood out the most I recognized the social training that online gaming provided and also the intellectual stimulation that certain games offered the player.

Uppsatsen har som mål att se hur läsningen av Kurt Vonnegut kan kompletteras med ekokritiska perspektiv. Som ämne valdes hot mot planeten och det undersökta materialet var fyra av Vonneguts böcker: Player Piano (1954), Breakfast of Champions (1973), Slapstick (1976) samt A Man without a Country (2005). Böckerna undersöktes utifrån frågorna: Har det tidigare i Vonneguts författarskap förekommit hot mot planeten? Vilka är i sådana fall dessa hot och vilka är aktörerna bakom hoten? samt Hur framställs hoten och hur har hoten och framställningen förändrats från Vonneguts debut till hans avslutande roman? Undersökningen visade att det genom hela Vonneguts författarskap har funnits ett tema som säger att livet som levs är ohållbart. Det tar sig form i olika hotbilder mot planeten.

Texten och talet : En intervjustudie om talboksanvändande hos studenter med dyslexi

The aim of this thesis is to investigate how students in higher education use talking books. This has been inves-tigated through qualitative interviews with nine students. The intention has been to find out how they use talk-ing books and why they have chosen to do it in the way they have, looking specifically on whether there are strategies shared by most of the interviewees.As a theoretical basis of the thesis I have chosen a study, described by Sigrid Hongset, where dyslectic pu-pils tried using printed text and text on tape, as well as both simultaneously. George Kingsley Zipfs ?Principle of least effort? will act as a supplemental theory.The interviews show that the students use talking books in different ways.

The construction industry hasn?t highlighted the quality in recent times which have contributed to the construction industry receiving much criticism in the field. The public sees it as an offhanded industry where errors and delays are common.The reason for this is considered to be primarily the lack of time, constant pressure to reduce costs and skills and the ability to communicate between the parties about what the correct quality really means. The industry has begun to realize that it must start setting clearer standards and that there are great opportunities for improvement.This report will give Peab an opportunity to develop their quality work.

Vägledning för alla? : Vilken typ av kommunikativa medel erbjuds till studerande vid distansvägledning?

Att studera på vuxenutbildningen kan innebära att du som studerande inte har möjlighet närvara fysiskt för vägledning på skolan. Orsaken kan exempelvis vara att du som studerande inte bor nära skolan, du arbetar eller har någon diagnos (exempelvis social fobi).  Syftet i studien är att undersöka vilken typ av kommunikativa medel som erbjuds sådana studerande. Examensarbetet är en kvantitativ studie, där 26 enkäter skickades via e-post till studie- och yrkesvägledarna hos utbildningsanordnare inom vuxenutbildningen. Resultatet visar att 18 utbildningsanordnare av 22 erbjuder vägledning för dessa studerande, samt att det finns variation i de kommunikativa medel som används för vägledning.

At Saab Aerosystems, situated in Linköping Sweden, there is a presentation and manoeuvre simulator simulating the fighter jet JAS-39 Gripen. This flight simulator is called PMSIM. In this thesis we study how to transfer sensor images generated by PMSIM to other simulators or desktop computers. The transmission is band-limited so some kind of image coding must be used. Because of this the greater part of this thesis is concerned with image coding.

For youths leisure activity the organized sport is vital. Young people become increasingly sedentaryand the healths of young people are the various municipalities responsibility. In Eskilstuna, thehandball is very popular but there are only three grounds that meet the standards of the dimensions ofa handball pitch, 40x20 meters. The same dimensions are used by floorball. Interoperabilitet - Microsoft mot Kommissionen

Kommissionen inledde i februari 2000 en omfattande utredning mot Microsoft baserad på Sun Microsystems klagan om Microsofts konkurrensbegränsande förfaranden 1998. Utredningen bestod av två delar; interoperabilitet mellan PC-klientoperativsystemsmarknaden och servermarknaden och integrationen av Windows Media Player i Windows. I mars 2004 kom Kommissionens beslut där de drog slutsatsen att Microsoft dubbelt missbrukat en dominerande ställning genom att förhindra effektiv konkurrens på arbetsgruppsservermarknaden och bundit sin mediaspelare till sitt operativsystem. Microsoft överklagade Kommissionens beslut till Förstainstansrätten och den 17 september 2007 kom domen, vilken i huvudsak bekräftade Kommissionens beslut. Mitt syfte i denna uppsats är att undersöka den första delen av Kommissionens beslut angående interoperabilitet och sedermera Förstainstansrättens dom, för att avgöra hur väl de dragna slutsatserna överensstämmer med praxis, vad prejudikatet kan innebära för framtiden samt i vilken mån företag kan bli skyldiga att lämna ut information.I min analys och de avslutande kommentarerna redogör jag för min slutsats att Kommissionens beslut och Förstainstansrättens dom faktiskt är skäliga, men att prejudikatet måste vaktas av de exceptionella omständigheter som föreligger i fallet.
