Under de senaste åren har levnadsåldern ökat i Sverige och medellivslängden antas öka ännu mer. Antalet människor med demenssjukdom kommer att öka och fler patienter med demens kommer att vårdas inom akutsjukvården framöver. Stora krav kommer ställas på vårdpersonalen för att tillgodose denna patientgrupps vårdbehov. Kunskap som vi menar inte finns idag. Ungefär 140 000 personer i Sverige har någon form av demenssjukdom och risken att drabbas ökar med åldern.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is one of the leading causes of acute encephalitis in humans. The virus is spread by mosquitoes, mainly belonging to the Culex species. The main reservoirs are considered to be birds and pigs, with pigs constituting the most important reservoir in regard to human infection. During the last few decades the production of pork has increased significantly in Vietnam. With 90% of pigs being kept in households owning 10 pigs or less, pigs are widely spread across most parts of the country.

Bakgrund: Ishockey är en sport som i studier visat sig ha en hög skadefrekvens. Sporten utövas av kvinnor likväl som män men hur sporten spelas skiljer sig åt beroende av kön samt mellan olika länder. En kartläggning av skadeproblematiken utgör första steget i ett skadepreventivt arbete. Dock finns i dagsläget inga studier angående skadepanoramat inom svensk damishockey.Syfte: Att kartlägga skadeproblematiken inom svensk damishockey utifrån ålder, antal exponeringstimmar, skadelokalisation, skadetillfälle, skadefrekvens samt hur lång matchfrånvaro skador föranleder. Att undersöka samband mellan skadefrekvens och exponeringstimmar samt skadefrekvens och ålder.Metod: En webbaserad enkät utformades i en retrospektiv design.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how women who have incurred ACL injury for more than 10 years ago, feel that the injury affects them today.Method: A qualitative semi-structured interview survey with five women who 10- 28 years ago incurred the anterior cruciate ligament injuries when playing handball or soccer has been performed. The study has been inspired by a phenomenological concept of science, mainly by life-world concept. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Main result: Some informants have experienced severe loss of physical ability in both daily living situations and in training, while others did not appreciably felt impacted in daily living and experienced great opportunities for physical activity. Limitations which emerged were restrictions in movement, joint stiffness, pain, swelling, and crepitations that led to the loss of physical ability. One respondent had been diagnosed with advanced osteoarthritis.

Bakgrund: I dagens samhälle pågår ständiga debatter om genus i olika kontexter, diskussionen om exempelvis löneskillnader, barnuppfostran och vårdande utifrån genus är närvarande i media, i såväl TV som tidningar och på internet. Studier har visat på att kvinnor och män uppfattar vårdande olika samt har olika preferenser för hur vårdandet skall utformas ? sjuksköterskor bör därför vara genusmedvetna i mötet med patienten för att kunna ge genuskänsligt vårdande utifrån en personcentrerad utgångspunkt.Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva patienters uppfattningar av vårdande ? ur ett genusperspektiv.Metod: Detta arbete har genomförts som en litteraturöversikt och har baserats på 14 stycken vetenskapliga artiklar som har analyserats med en kvalitativ designmetod. Arbetet är förankrat med utgångspunkt i Katie Erikssons teori om vårdande.Resultat: Resultatet utgörs av tre teman; (a) Kvinnor och mäns förväntningar samt önskemål för vårdande, (b) När förväntningar och önskemål ej tillgodoses samt (c) När förväntningar och önskemål tillgodoses. Olikheter mellan könen gällande uppfattningar av vårdande framkom främst vid missnöje.

Fotboll är en intressant idrott att utforska ur skadeperspektiv då det är en av de mest skadedrabbade idrotterna. Fotbollsskador uppkommer antingen akut eller över tid och åtskiljs beroende om de inträffar under träning eller match. Tidigare studier av elitspelare visar att skador främst inträffar under match i form av akuta skador. De visar också att överbelastningsskador är mer träningsrelaterade och att flertalet av dem inträffar under försäsongen. Skadeincidensen beskrivs i antalet skador per 1000 tränings- respektive matchtimmar.

Animal welfare in Sweden has gone through major changes during the later years. In 2004, Swedish Animal Welfare Agency took over the central responsibility for the animal welfare from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and in 2007 the board again became the central authority for animal welfare in Sweden.Even the practical supervision has changed, from the 1 of January 2009 the supervision is to be performed by the county administrative boards, instead of by the individual municipalities. Since 2006 every horse in the European Union has to have an identification card, in Sweden called a ?horse passport? which describes the color and markings of the horse as well as any veterinary treatments.The ELOF-project, a collaborative project between the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the county administrative boards, intends to make the animal welfare supervision effective, standardised, fair and risk-based. Because of the takeover of the supervision and of the ELOF-project the Örebro County Administrative Board has began to make an inventory of the number of horses and horsefarms in the county. Another Ethology and Animal Welfare-student and I did, in collaboration with the county administrative board created a checklist that in connection with the inventory will lead to a risk-based animal welfare supervision.

Caffeine affects mechanisms in our body which can be beneficial to perform better during exercise, but the theories have not yet been systematically reviewed.Objective: The purpose of this review article, is to examine the acute effect of caffeine intake before strength training on athletic performance with the outcome muscle endurance.Search strategy: A systematic literature search in databases PubMed, Scopus and Cochrane using keywords: ?Caffeine?, ?strength?, ?muscle?, "resistance training", "muscle strength", "strength training", "athletic performance", ?repetitions to failure?, ?muscular endurance? and ?endurance training?.Selection criteria: Healthy subjects, 16-50 years old, with experience in strength training. Studies with a caffeine intake > 5 mg/kg body weight, which participants performed dynamic strength exercises on a weight > 60% of their 1 RM.

Vården och idrottsledarens sätt att agera och uttala sig om behandling och prognos påverkar idrottaren på ett sätt som både kan stärka, men även minska tilltron till sin egen förmåga varför vikten av optimalt stöd och omhändertagande av omgivningen genom hela rehabiliteringen har stor betydelse, särskilt hos barn och ungdomar vars reaktioner på trauma är starkare än hos vuxna. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att ta reda på vem som har ansvaret för att barn och ungdomar får det psykosociala stöd som behövs i samband med en allvarlig idrottsskada, vilken kunskap som finns hos tränare, föräldrar och fysioterapeuter samt om det finns någon handlingsplan för de som inte lyckas återgå. Metod: Kvalitativa intervjuer med tränare, föräldrar och fysioterapeuter med erfarenhet av allvarliga idrottsskador hos barn och ungdomar i åldern 12-16 år från olika idrotter i Stockholmsregionen analyserades med innehållsanalys. Resultat: Alla informantgrupper oberoende av varandra ansåg att kommunikationen var det största problemet och att rollen som koordinator saknades. De förmedlade en känsla av kognitiva, emotionella och beteendemässiga reaktioner hos barnen, som i likhet med tidigare studier ansågs större ju yngre barnen var.

60 million years ago the horse was the size of a small dog, and walked on four toes. Today it can weigh up to 500-1000 kg and has evolved to walking on only one phalanx. The anatomy of the horses? legs and hooves allow them to run at high speeds, and at the same time enables them to bear the extremely high concussions applied to the foot at high speeds or jumps. Every horse owner has his or her own opinion on how to manage their horses? hooves, and whether the horse should be shod or unshod. The knowledge, commitment and attention of the owner determine the quality of the hoof care, but also the time between the arising of symptoms of abnormalities of the hoof until care is sought with a farrier or veterinarian. New laws will be applied at the beginning of 2015 which bring on changes in authorization for farriers.

Syfte och frågeställningarStudien genomfördes med syftet att specificera vilken intensitet och duration vid uppvärmning som är optimal för att få ut största möjliga effekt vid anaerob prestation i form av maximalt vertikalhopp och fem sekunders maximal cykelsprint. Studien byggde på tre frågeställningar: På vilket sätt påverkar uppvärmningen prestationen vid ett maximalt vertikalhopp? På vilket sätt påverkar uppvärmningen prestationen vid ett maximalt fem sekunders sprinttest? Vilken uppvärmning är optimal för maximal muskulär explosivitet?MetodDesignen var en kvantitativ experimentell studie som innefattade fyra fysiskt aktiva kvinnor med genomsnittsålder på 24 år. Testerna bestod av nio tillfällen där en slumpad uppvärmning på ergometercykel genomfördes varje gång. Därefter genomfördes tre vertikalhopp, så kallade counter movement jump, på en kraftplatta och tre fem-sekunders sprint (5sCST) på Monarks Peak Bike.

This study was conducted at VikingGenetics' bull breeding station in Falkenberg, Sweden. The bulls waiting for the results of their progeny testing at this station are either kept in group housing or individual housing. Since both of these housing systems have advantages and disadvantages, it was in the interest of VikingGenetics to know which of these housing systems is the best. The aim of this study was to investigate the welfare of the bulls in these two housing systems through behavioural observations and the use of activity monitors. In the preparations for the study 16 bulls, 8 in each housing system, were chosen.

Extensive planting of the tree species lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia) during the 1970s and 80s has resulted in large areas now being available for commercial thinning. However, the varying quality of the stands creates a problem. The purpose of this study was to investigate, at the Torsby district of the Stora Enso forest company, how well the present computer records of the stands correspond to reality and determine which stands are, from a qualitative perspective, suited for timber production. Finding variables that indicate better stands would give Stora Enso the possibility of selecting qualitative stands which are more profitable to thin. The study included 32 stands containing at least 70 % Pinus contorta.

This paper is based on a literature review and interviews made with managers in small-scale nurseries for pot plant production. The review helped to identify the worst occupational hazards in pot plant production. The interviews provided a way to investigate how the nurseries act so as to avoid the worst hazards and what they do to even out work intensive periods during the season in order to get a more even distribution of work over the year. According to available statistics problems with back and shoulders are the most common of the physical disorders and the risk for occupational accidents are high for greenhouse workers. Most of the occupational injuries are connected to musculoskeletal problems. The handling of material is often manual and involves frequent lifting and carrying of heavy loads, the strenuous work postures and static muscular tensions these repetitive tasks are associated with causes straining and overloading.

During natural conditions cattle live in large herds, which are divided into subgroups of 10-15 animals. Humans have held cattle for over 9000 years. Today we mostly have cows for milk and meat production during more or less intensive forms. Most of the Swedish cattle have the opportunity to graze during the summer time. This partly arises from the Swedish Animal Protection law which stipulates that cattle must have the option to be outside and graze, also partly because it makes it easier for the farmer.
