Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how patients with acute illness experience their given care in the emergency department. Method: A literature review of ten studies where differences and similarities were analyzed. These studies had been published between the years of 2000 and 2011. Results: The analysis showed a lack of sufficient care concerning patients? subjective experiences.

Skin temperature is detected through signals in unmyelinated C-fibers and thin myelinated A?-fibers in the peripheral and central nervous system. Disorders in thin nerve fibres are important and not rare but difficult to diagnose by the most common neurophysiological methods. In this pilot study different methods for quantitative sensory testing, QST, were compared to give some ideas about which method could be the most efficient to use in order to point out injuries of the sensory system in clinical practice. The comparison was made between Békésy (separate warmand cold thresholds) and Marstock test (combined warm and cold thresholds).

Bakgrund: Flertal studier visar ett samband mellan regelbunden fysiskaktivitet och livskvalité bland äldre.Syftet med studien var att beskriva hur fysiskt aktiva äldre individer uppleverhälsa, livskvalité, känsla av sammanhang och hur det kan vara enförutsättning för fysisk aktivitet. Kan KASAM-livsfrågeformulär bidra tillökad förståelse för individens upplevda hälsa och fysiska aktivitet.Metod: Kvalitativ och kvantitativ. Utifrån kvantitativ ansats användesKASAM-livsfrågeformulär med 29 frågor uppdelat utifrån treområdeskomponenter; begriplighet, hanterbarhet och meningsfullhet. Somkvalitativt komplement gjordes 15 intervjuer. Data analyserades medinnehållsanalys.

Bakgrund: Hästar tillbringar större delen av sin tid i hage eller stall och här sker många skador, vilket är negativt för hästens välmående och välfärd. Det finns så vitt jag känner till ingen systematiserad forskning om inhysningsrelaterade skador i Sverige. Syfte: Att ta reda på var hästar skadar sig och varför de skadar sig, för att kunna förebygga dessa skador. Metod: Hästägare från många olika discipliner vars hästar skadat sig i stall eller hage de senaste tio åren intervjuades om skadescenarier, behandling, konvalescens och utgång. Resultat: Sexton hästägare intervjuades om sammanlagt 24 hästar. Skadorna uppstod i de flesta fall i hagen (20/24). Den vanligaste skadeorsaken var staket (8/24), följt av annan häst (5/24) och vasst föremål (2/24). I stallet orsakade boxvägg (1/24), boxdörr (1/24) och uppbindning/stallgång (1/24) skador.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att studera psykosociala faktorers påverkan på skaderisken hos ungdomslandslagsspelare i fotboll. Tvångsmässig passion är en central faktor som studerats i relation till skada. Även faktorerna antal träningstimmar per vecka, antal spelade matcher, stress, själförtroende och motivation har studerats i relation till skada. En kvantitativ design har använts där 300 svenska ungdomslandslagsspelare i fotboll ingått som undersökningsdeltagare. Använda mätinstrument i undersökningen har varitPANAS, PSS, Grit-scale, PCLDS, Passion Scale, SCI samt SMS.

Abstract The core is the center of gravity in our body. Injuries and overload in the joints, is the most common reason for not be able to work in Sweden today. A god strength capacity in the core is important for secure and effective movements, as well for active athletes, as for non athletes. The increased number of employees, who report in sick today, has been correlated with psychological bad health. New methods to deal with mental and physical health problems among people can indicate to the fact that Yoga in the western world has increased its members, due its spiritual and physical recognition in favor of well being.

In this thesis a concept for floor hatches for foam pits has been developed. Since there is an existing solution that is powered by hydraulics and is expensive, the goal was to develop a cheaper solution, as simple as possible.A number of different concepts were developed and evaluated. A concept with five sections that are pulled to the side and stacked on each other was chosen as it was thought to have the lowest risk of crush injuries and to be easiest to manage and control. In the opening behind the foam mattress a lifting table is placed to regulate the height of the stacked sections.To be allowed to be installed in the floor of sports halls the sections must be dimensioned according to the construction standards for these types of buildings. Different dimensions of beams in steel and wood materials were evaluated and of those, who lived up to the requirements of the standard, a concept was chosen.

Syfte: Sammanställa och granska studier gällande postoperativ behandling vid ruptur av ligament patella. Detta för att beskriva effekt och kvalitet på studier om postoperativ behandling.Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie valdes som design, med sökorden: patellar ligament, patellar tendon, rupture, knee injuries, surgery. Av totalt 1240 träffar valdes 13 relevanta artiklar publicerade mellan 1999-2013 efter sökningar i databaserna PubMed, PEDro, COCHRANE, SCOPUS, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus och AMED. Artiklarna kvalitetsgranskades enligt PEDro scale.Resultat: Två postoperativa behandlingar beskrevs, tidig och sen mobilisering. Antingen placeras knäleden i ett stabiliserande knäskydd som till en början låser knäleden i full extension eller så påbörjas tidig mobilisering av den opererade knäleden.

In November 2006 and July 2007, changes were made to the Social Services Law and the Criminal Injuries Law, defining children who have witnessed domestic violence as crime victims. The objective of our study is to examine if these changes have affected how social workers responsible for child protection inquiries interact with children who have witnessed domestic violence, and to what extent these children?s need of support are taken into account. Qualitative interviews have been carried out with five social workers, with the aim to evaluate how they meet and become aware of these children. Our problem-formulation is based upon the question how social services implement the recent changes to the law.

This essay includes the planning and designing of a house as well as writing a rapport about howto increase fire safety in small buildings.More than 6000 homes burn in Sweden every year (Brandskyddsföreningen, 2012c). Thedevastation and the costs are usually very high. This report examines possible measures to reduceboth personal injuries and economic losses resulting from house fires in small buildings.Swedishbuilding regulationsplay a major role when it comes to constructional fire safety. However therequirements inSwedish building regulations are very low for small buildings and this is anargument for raising the requirements.The report shows and describes possible methods to build safer with regards to fire in terms ofmaterials and different building structures. Major focus has been on fire cells but other solutionsare also examined and described.

Assessing and measuring post-operative pain in all animals is a challenge, but doing it in small mammals, for example guinea pigs, presents an even larger difficulty. Validated pain scales developed for use in dogs in clinical practice are currently available, but no such scale has been widely accepted for use in guinea pigs in the veterinary setting. In this experimental study, six guinea pigs that had undergone surgery and anaesthesia were observed for behavioural changes that could be associated with pain. The six guinea pigs were also given pain scores with the use of Colorado State University Feline Acute Pain Scale (CSU-APSF), a scale which uses both behaviour when not handled, body tension and response to palpation to evaluate pain intensity. The six guinea pigs showed a number of different behaviours, for example rigid posture, fixed stare and ?wet dog response? (the body is vigourosly shaken), that could be associated with pain.

The aim of this study was to study how Swedish youth national football players handle stressful events in sports. A longitudinal questionnaire diary was constructed from a revised version of Nicholls and Polmans (2007) design with the intention of recording in-sport and psychosocial stress, choice of coping strategy and coping effectiveness. The participants were 59 Swedish youth national football players born 1992 observed during a four day national training camp held by the Swedish Football Association. Data were drawn from a quantifying analyzing method. The main result showed that the most common stressors reported were, physical injury or pain, experiencing teammates or opponents to perform better and feeling generally insecure during training camp.

Bakgrund: Den goda vården syftar till att lindra mänskligt lidande, såsom smärta. Detta är inte alltid uppnått inom den slutna sjukvården idag, och patientens smärta blir inte lindrad. Musik kan användas som en hälsointervention inom sjukvården och har visats ha en rad positiv inverkan på patienten. Syfte: Beskriva vad musiken som en individanpassad omvårdnadshandling har för verkan på patientens smärttillstånd vid en akut smärta.Metod: En litteraturstudie baserad på 14 utvalda kvantitativa studier om musikens verkan på ett akut smärttillstånd. Resultat: Resultatet visar på att musik som en individanpassad omvårdnadshandling kan lindra patientens smärttillstånd.

The purpose of this study was investigating the means which rule the social worker?s choice of institution placing youths and how they match the youth?s individual need compared with the type of home. The questions were: Which significance has the characteristics of the youth and their family for the placing? Which significance has the characteristics of the institution? Which significance has the social workers? way of working, investigation, theories, economy etc.? A qualitative way of interviewing has been used. Eight interviews were done; six with social welfare secretaries who place youths and two social workers who work with coun­selling and placement.

Background: Being subjected to an extensive burn injury affects the victim´s physique, social life and its psyche. A burn injury can be determined as a trauma. Burn injuries often make the patient suffer from pain, anxiety and lack of a social life. Sister Callista Roy´s theory was used to analyze the result of the study. One of her goal is to promote the adaptive function of self-perception.
