The purpose of this Master thesis is to illustrate the public librarian. People in general, including library users and leading personalities in the field of culture in the communities do not know the tasks of the public librarian. We presume that the vague picture of duties of the public librarian might cause problems. In this dissertation we mean to examine only public librarians, hereby we exclude for example, university- and company librarians. The sentences of this thesis are: How are the public librarians viewed, in meaning of, tasks, role/-s, comptetence/-s, status and image? And can we call it a "profession" in the classical sense? We answer these questions by using relevant literature, interviews and conference paper.

The hospitalization of childbirth and maternal care in Sweden is from an international perspective quite unique. It was implemented already in the beginning of the 20th century and fully mainstreamed by the 1960?s. This essay examines the professional discussions of midwives and doctors as depicted in their union?s membership papers, during the hospitalization period.

Bakgrund: Tidigare studier har fokuserat på de fysiologiska aspekterna i bearbetningen av astma, både för patienterna och för deras närstående. Astma har under de senaste årtiondena ökat i prevalens och sjukdomen skapar emotionell och psykologisk stress som drabbar hela familjen runt den astmasjuke.Syfte: Syftet med denna litteratur studie var att uppmärksamma familjens upplevelser när ett barn har sjukdomen astma, samt belysa sjuksköterskans betydelseMetod: Till denna litteraturstudie samlades data in från databaserna Academic Search Elite och CINAHL. Under analysen skapades fyra teman. Dessa var: Första tiden efter diagnosen, anpassning, när astman blir en del av livet. Sista temat var sjuksköterskans betydelse.Resultat: Resultatet visar att föräldrar till barn med nydiagnostiserad astma känner osäkerhet, rädsla och betvivlar sin förmåga att vårda sitt barn.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine women's shelter representatives' views on domestic violence in same-sex relationships between women. The questions we posed were how women's shelter representatives relate to same-sex domestic violence, both from a theoretical and practical perspective, as well as if they are, or feel they should be, inclusive of women who are victims of same-sex domestic violence.We conducted a qualitative study, in which we interviewed eight women's shelter representatives. We then compared and linked our findings with previous research, including studies on the occurrence of same-sex violence, and ideas of similarity and differences between men's violence against women and same-sex domestic violence. We also linked our findings to theories on heteronormativity and structural theories surrounding same-sex domestic violence.We found that the competence and knowledge of women's shelter representatives varies greatly from individual to individual. Heteronormativity permeates the organisations to a great extent, from exclusive marketing and initial reception to a lack of interest regarding these issues.

Fransson, Carina & Jessen, Anneli (2010). Tillgång och kompetens kring kompensatoriska hjälpmedel (Availability and competence on assistive technology). Skolutveckling och ledarskap, Specialpedagogik, Lärarutbildningen, Malmö högskola. Syftet med undersökningen är att kartlägga om elever med dyslexi har de kompensatoriska hjälpmedel som SKED anser att de behöver samt om eleven, elevens föräldrar och speciallärare/specialpedagoger har den kompetens som krävs för att ge eleven möjlighet att kunna använda dessa hjälpmedel optimalt. Vi har gjort en kvalitativ undersökning med halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Sammanlagt har vi genomfört 12 intervjuer med fyra elever, fyra föräldrar och fyra specialpedagoger från tre grundskolor i två kommuner. Kartläggningen visade att i den ena kommunen var tillgången till kompensatoriska hjälpmedel bra, utifrån SKED:s rekommendationer. I den andra kommunen var tillgången inte bra, utifrån SKED:s rekommendationer.

The aim of this study was to investigate how staff members at residential homes experience encountering sexuality among the youths. The study was conducted by using qualitative interviews with four staff members at four different residential homes. The interviews have been analyzed by using content analysis and have been looked at through a perspective of experience, as described by Richard Stevens, and by applying developmental psychology. The results show that, although sexuality is experienced as being distinctly present and being a topic of major concern, the staff members have given sex-education as a means by which to raise their own competence little or no thought. One way to interpret this is that sexuality and sex-education haven?t been given a sufficient space in the work with the youths.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att enligt vetenskapliga studier, publicerade mellan år 2002 och 2007, beskriva omvårdnad av patienter med kronisk hjärtsvikt. Metoden som användes var en litteraturstudie med beskrivande design. Information hämtades från databaserna Medline, Academic Search Elite och Cochrane Library, samt ur Vård i Nordens webbarkiv. Sökorden som användes var ?chronic heart failure? och ?nursing?.

The purpose of this thesis is to identify the factors that drive efficiency and effectiveness in technical development projects performed at A?F?s department of product development. In addition to identifying and analyzing these factors, the thesis also analyzes what needs to be taken in to account in order to implement a measurement system that is able to both monitor and control the identified factors.The thesis has been performed in a qualitative manner. It is based on interviews with people from several different technological companies, within different lines of business, all of which are customers to A?F?s department of product development.The results show that there are seven critical factors for project efficiency and effectiveness.

Today equal representation between the genders in parliament is something to be desired. One way to reach the goal of equal representation is by using quotas. The purpose of the study is to research the lack of equality in elected institutions by using a perspective on qoutas.  The study also seeks to find answers to if using quotas is a good method according to gender studies. A text analysis is being used to find reasonable solutions to the study´s presented complivations.  By analyzing different texts about quotas some of the more common arguments in the discussion about using quotas in parliaments were highlighted. Some of the more frequent arguments to implement quotas are that it would be more just but also that women and men may have different interests, experiences and therefore equal representation would be a question of resources.

This study is based on interviews with five directors of educational administration within the Stockholm County. The purpose is to investigate how the directors of educational administrations, in the different municipalities, describe the relationship between the administration and the local school units. Moreover, the aim is also to describe the administration director?s work in relation to the various levels of the administration. To what extent can it be identified as a dimension of the learning organization described in this report.The study shows that skepticism is usually directed upwards toward the next level in the organization and that the decision-making right for local schools is consistently safeguarded.

Youth crime is a subject widely discussed in media as well as in the academic field of criminology. One of the topics within the research field of youth crime discusses how to effectively help young people leave a criminal lifestyle behind. It is within this topic that the focus of this essay lies. This qualitative study examines a community based program in the Swedish city of Malmö called Nya Vägvalet (The New Choice of Path, own translation), which works with juvenile delinquents and the issues that surround the youths lifestyle. The aim of the essay is to explore the foundations and methodology of the program, how the methods of the program are put into practice and how these methods compare to what current research findings claim to be effective factors in successful interventions.

The purpose of this paper is to find out pedagogues approach to intercultural education through IVIK, goals and guidelines, the school for newly arrived students and how student experience and knowledge are utilized. In my study, I used a qualitative research method. I have interviewed four teachers and four students and a school administrator at IVIK. Results of the study show that most teachers have a good understanding of interculturalism, but that doesn?t mean that teachers make of this relationship means in their teachings.

Syftet med den här litteraturstudien var att beskriva män och kvinnors förändrade livskvalitet efter en PCI behandling. Litteratursökningen genomfördes i databaserna Academic search elite, Chinal och Pubmed. Nitton artiklar som motsvarade urvalskriterierna valdes ut och granskades. Samtliga artiklar var kvantitativa. Resultatet visade att den stora fördelen med PCI behandling är att patienterna fick en minskad frekvens av angina vilket gjorde att både den fysiska och psykiska hälsan ökade.

The aim of this piece of work is to highlight and investigate young female?s motivation in participation of P.E classes and the degree to which the content of classes affect their motivation. To support this piece of work two theories have been utilized, the Self-determination Theory and a gender related perspective theory. The research consists of six qualitative interviews of young females who are perceived to be less motivated. These interviews focus on their views and attitudes in relation to P.E within the Swedish high school setting.

Since the Maastricht Treaty the European Parliament has gained competence in the decision-making process and the Parliament is today one of two decision-making institution, next to the Ministers of Council. In this study the main focus has been to shed light over the negotiation culture within the European Parliament, which up till now has been a neglected research area. This is of great significance because the internal negotiations in the European Parliament decide the external negotiation position with the other institutions.After face-to-face interviews with MEP:s and assistants I have been able to identify certain characteristics to create an understanding of the negotiation culture in Europe's elected Parliament. The negotiations are oriented towards a problems-solving approach and the prevailing apprehension is consensus-based negotiations instead of the existence of political blocks. The committees are stronger than the European party groups, which further encourage negotiation.
