Användning av LiDAR och ArcGIS inom skogsbruk i Sverige
Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) har under det senaste decenniet utvecklats mycket och används som datainsamlingsmetod vid inventering av skog. Lantmäteriet genomför mellan åren 2009 och 2015 en riksomfattande flygburen laserskanning över hela Sverige och den laserskanningen ska leda till en ny nationell höjdmodell (NNH). Data som genereras från denna höjdmodell kan nyttjas av skogsindustrin för att göra skogliga inventeringar. Programvaruutvecklaren Esri Inc. har utvecklat ett stöd för hantering av denna typ av data i deras nya version av ArcGIS, ArcGIS 10.1.

Many wood living insects are considered threatened by modern forestry due to the reduction in amount of dead wood. During the last decade various methods have been used to enhance the quantity of dead wood in managed forests. However little is known how and if these methods are aiding saproxylic insects. The threatened tenebrionid beetle, Upis ceramboides, is already extinct in southern Sweden. It develops in white rotted dead birch (Betula spp) and requires sun-exposed sites.

Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis) is a tree species that have its natural distribution along the
West Coast of North America, from Alaska in the north to northern California in the south.
Sitka spruce is a typical coastal tree species that can reach heights up to 85 meters and occurs
in single pure as well as in mixed stands.
The main purposes of this study were to describe the Sitka spruce growing characteristics and
the volume production in comparison to spruce (Picea abies). The possibility to predict future
volume production by using prognosis tools designed to be used on spruce were also studied.
The material that has been used in this study are permanent sitka trials established by the
Faculty of Forestry fixed Sitka trials and also material gathered in this study.
A literature study was also carried out in order to determine the Sitka spruce growing
characteristics.
Sitka spruce has a high adaptation and a high volume production on a broad scale of soil
types. The tree species is a pioneer species that has a fast early growth and in combination
with sharp needles it is less susceptible to animal browsing than spruce. The factor that is the
single most limiting factor for where the Sitka spruce can be planted is frost. This factor can
be limited by using plant material with a well-suited provenance.
According to the literature, the Sitka spruce has an average total volume production that is
between 20-40% higher than spruce.
Utveckling i Ammerån : att skapa ett hållbart fiske med hög kvalitet
Ammerån which is a small forest river in eastern Jämtland is a well-known river that has been a popular fishing river for a long time. The actual Ammerån begins downstream the lake Solbergsvattnet at Hammerdal and flows into the Indalsälven 10 km upstream Hammarstrand. The river environment switches between forests with wilderness feeling and open agricultural land. The entire Ammerån is today a nature reserve and protected from hydropower development. Fishing in Ammerån has mainly been focused on trout and grayling, and is so even today.

This thesis is made on behalf of SCA's Forestry Division and is a comparison of two bucking simulation tools: Aptan (manufactured by Skogforsk) and Best/upr (from Berget Systemdesign). The data is based on 32 stands from SCA's forests in Norrbotten and Västerbotten. The objective is to compare the simulations created by the tools with the harvested volumes from those stands. Three variables are needed for the bucking simulation; these are the diameter distribution (at breast height), the relationship function between diameter and height, and the taper coefficients. The volumes of five different assortments from the stands are compared.
Kontinuitetshantering i finanssektorn : Svenska finansiella företags hantering av operativa risker
I takt med förändringar såsom ökad globalisering och teknologisk utveckling har begrepp som riskhantering vuxit fram som en vital del av företags långsiktiga strategi. En del av ett företags riskhantering bör innehålla en plan som anger hur den operativa verksamheten kan fortgå när en kris inträffar. Detta kallas för kontinuitetshantering, vilket är desamma som hantering av operativa risker. I en rapport från 2005 fastslog Finansinspektionen att det fanns generella brister i kontinuitetshanteringen inom den svenska finanssektorn då kvalitén och omfattningen på företags kontinuitetsplaner varierade kraftigt.Denna studie genomfördes i det övergripande syftet att analysera hur svenska finansiella företag hanterar de risker som uppkommer i den dagliga verksamheten och om detta görs på ett tillfredställande sätt, givet Finansinspektionens rekommendationer och brittisk standard för kontinuitetshantering. Studien ämnade också undersöka vilka faktorer som driver företagens kontinuitetshanteringsarbete och identifiera förbättringsmöjligheter.Det teoretiska ramverket utgjordes av Finansinspektionens vägledande dokument för kontinuitetshantering samt den brittiska standarden BS25999.Vi valde att undersöka hur väl finansiella företag hanterar operativa risker samt om de följer de riktlinjer som finns, genom en så kallad mognadsmodell.

Governments needed to broaden their political decision making procedures in order to coordinate and integrate environmental, social and economic policies. Therefore a new tool was introduced in Agenda 21, National Strategies for Sustainable Development (NSDS). The aim of an NSDS would be to bring together actors from all parts of society to jointly reach a consensus on how to work towards the vision of a sustainable society. An NSDS would be seen as a strategic tool to help focus national policies for SD.

This final thesis is performed on commission of Hargs Bruk Ltd. Hargs Bruk manages one of Sweden?s largest privately owned forests. A main part of the managed forest is situated in Roslagen in eastern Uppland. Since 1934 felling calculations have been performed within the estate every tenth year.

Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis (Bong.) Carr) is just like Norway spruce (Picea abies) a species in thegenus picea. The natural range of Sitka spruce is a narrow strip along the west coast of North America. Itis the most coastal of all picea species, and very dependent on the mild and humid climate along thepacific coast.Sitka spruce has been grown a long time in the countries around the North Sea, particularly in GreatBritain where it currently is the most important species in British forestry. Sitka spruce has not beenplanted in Swedish forests to any large extent before the storm Gudrun in 2005. Several studies indicatethat the production of wood biomass is higher for Sitka spruce compared to Norway spruce.

Behandling av konfliktbestånd - problem och möjligheter :
Overdue cleanings have for a long time been an important topic of discussion within the forestry sector. When stands that have not been pre-commercially thinned are reaching the level of commercial thinning, many problems occur in terms of decision-making and economical outcomes. These types of stands are commonly known as conflict-stands.
The work was carried out partly as an interview survey towards representatives from the forest sector and the energy sector, partly as a case study of conflict-stands situated in Böksholm, north of Växjö and in Tönnersjö east of Halmstad. The criteria for the studied stands were that they had to be dominated by Norway spruce and be in a severe status of ?conflict?.
The aim of the interview was to get an overview of the situation today, and also analyse trends in terms of conflict stands.

with an area of 1 036 000 hectare. After that Holmen Skog AB has been working actively
with the nature conservation in the forestry. In order to control the quality of the company?s
nature conservation in final fellings they started a yearly inventory which is called BAKRUS
(Judgement of ecological and culture care in relations to policies for a persevering
silviculture). After 1999 the control was expended to include all actions in the forest.

Vindfällning, tillväxt och plantuppslag i en 13-årig granskärm i Medelpad :
The interest for alternative forest regeneration methods increased significantly during the 1990´s after 50 years dominance of the clear-cutting system (Holgén & Hånell 2000). One reason for this was that clear-cutting was being more and more questioned by different envi-ronmental organizations and because the forest sector for economical reasons wanted to find cheaper ways to regenerate forests. In the beginning of the 1990´s two shelterwood experi-ments were established in a joint effort by Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) and the Dept of Silviculture, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). The experiments include various forms of cutting and shelterwood densities and represent productive spruce forests in central and north Sweden (Roggsjön in the province of Medelpad and Skikkis-jöberg in the province of Västerbotten, respectively ). The experiment next to Roggsjön has been reported earlier in three MSc theses, and is also the focus of this thesis.
